I have been wondering what other folks consider their favorite handle material (covers) on their traditional EDC. In my case, it is pocket worn bone.

... followed closely by everything else.

What's yours?

I like them all really and handle choice is influenced by pattern to a great extent.

Frankly, it's easier to say what I don't like :D MOP or MOT, that garish green stuff made from snails Abalone? Ivory.

The rest? Bring it on :D

Will, I think you'll recognize this, pocket worn antique bone. I won the wharnecliff in Jason Baker's give away and you gifted me the mini Copperhead to match. The generosity of the people in this group is astounding...

Probably stag. Not only is it good looking (when done right), it is also texturally interesting so it makes for a good worry stone. But I also enjoy jigged bone, wood, pearl, and ivory. The only stuff I can't abide are synthetic materials. Hate the way they feel. I own ONE knife with synthetic covers, a Cold Steel stockman with faux jigged bone that's been exiled to the glove compartment for emergency "Doh! I forgot my knife!" duty. It's the last and only one I'll buy.

:) I have a few pearl and a couple of MOTs in my accumulation. I like pearl, the MOT not so much. JohnDF's ebony is a great handle material.

I like many materials, but the one that appeals to me most is stag or jigged bone in stag-ish earthy colors such as Rogers bone or cases amber jigged bone.
I don't have any yet, but a case mini Texas jack in CV and amber jigged bone is on my short list.
It's just such a beautiful handle material.

After buying a few, I too loathe synthetic handles!:mad::mad:

It's "Sophie's Choice" between micarta & acrylics for me. I would pick micarta if forced.

God Bless those who like them, because they certainly need a good home!:p:D

My desk/workbench/toolbox knife is a #44 Buffalo Jack (2018 knife of the year!). :D

Stag is here to stay, along with a few that have sentimental value.

The others, eventually "BYE BYE" they will all go!

Stag is high up there, and I've come to love figured woods. I used to really love both jigged and smooth bone, but for some reason their appeal has faded to me recently.

As for what I don't like: I understand the appeal of micarta in terms of performance, but aesthetically most of it is a huge turn off. I also don't care much for ebony or other black woods.

I like natural materials with horn or bone (jigged or smooth) at the top, followed by wood & ebony, then exotics like mammoth and ivory, with - blasphemy alert - stag and antler at the bottom of the list.
Don't care for the visual appearance of synthetics very much although I a few GEC's with Micarta that end up in the pocket and get used a lot - but as far as Zytel, etc., no thanks.
Not a fan of Mother of Pearl for anything other than tableware and don't really care for abalone on a knife.
I like leather rings on a fixed blade a lot.
I also like a folder with titanium (as on a CRK), then aluminum but not stainless.
