your favorite folding wharncliffe?

I don't have one, but have been real drawn to them as of late. Been checking out the BM 425, Spyderco Cento 4, and the Kershaw Needs work. Maybe I should get all three.:D

the design provides maximum contact per draw stroke/slice. they are extremely versatile. the jack of all trades award could quite possibly go to the wharny. i personally view them as great defensive weapons as well.

I've got a bunch of various Wharny blades and love that shape. Its probably one of my all time favorite using blade shapes for all the straight edge it gives the user, and the ease of sharpening because of that shape. I like em a bit better with a bit more of a splinter picket point personally so I'd pick one that has that over more of a rounded blade. Don't care for the blunt tips much at all.

Hard to pick a favorite and it wouldn't make much sense. I'd say something else next week. :D

Just made up a nice one today (signiture line) in fact. Been doing some whittling with it to give it the run through since knocking it out.

I've always wanted one of those yellow Case CV Wharncliffe Copperlocks. Pity they discontinued them. :(

I have to settle for my Needs Work. :p

That yellow Case CV Wharncliffe Copperlock is a great knife (or at least mine is :D ).
Compared to that, most of what passes as wharny looks more sheepsfoot to me ;)

My vote goes to Centofante 4... it's what has made me fall in love with the wharncliffe profile!

I love my little Kershaw Centofante. The Wharnie is my favorite blade shape.

As always:

I just got one new, made in 2003. They are still around in inventory with some folks, or on Ebay every once in a while.

Nice, slim knife, a bit longer than what I usually put in my pocket, but a VERY useful blade.

I also have a Case Copperhead, blue peachseed jigged bone, in stainless, with a large pen/small spear blade paired with a Wharncliffe. I've had that one for several years now, and it is one of my absolute favorites of all time.

I've got that Case Wharncliffe Copperlock and agree that it's a great, useful knife.

But my own favorite wharncliffe blades would have to be these from Al Dippold and J.B. Moore respectively:

does the Leek count as a Wharncliff? it has a very slight belly to it.
if so then that would be mine.

I don't own this and it isn't my picture but this is a very sweet one I wish I would have picked up when I had a chance: (I got it's spearpoint sister though.:) )

Why like Wharncliffes and not tantos? A mystery to me. The tanto (American style) seems to fit a definition of TWO wharncliffes....with an additional point.

I only own one. An old Browning that my wife now carries. I had a hard time learning not to take the tip off while sharpening. I much prefer the tanto shape but usually carry a serrated Delica.

And a SAK for most stuff.
:)

catspaw- h.s. i just looked at the wharcom. that thing is the most nasty/beautiful/functional/sheeple friendly/legal nearly everywhere blade. i wish that came in tan with 440c for $7 more. either way for <$30 i don't know if you could find a better backup (beater) edc for my urbanesque situations. a simply spectacular design.
