Your favorite FOOTWEAR?

If you want boots that loggers and smokejumpers have used for a generation, try a pair of White's Smokejumpers. White's make great packer boots and just general work boots as well. I have a couple pair and I'll probably never need to buy boots again.

My teenage son wears Danner Go Devil boots. They are real nice boots, but for long-term, hard use, it would be hard to find something better than White's. (Subjective of course) Also, it's tough to spend top dollar on boots for a growing kid's feet.

White's aren't cheap, (approx $375) but they'll last many years and then they can be completely rebuilt so you can start over. They are also built to fit your individual feet.

For something you use all day, every day, like your feet, White's boots aren't that expensive.

If you like a hiking boot style, look at Peter Limmer boots. Also top-quality footwear.

Everyday/light hiking: pair of Salomon light hiking boots (dunno what model, bought on sale in a warehouse two years ago. Almost no sole left, but very comfty!)

Capacity Gear:

Just talk to the folks at White's. They'll send you out a template that you trace your foot on. They also give you fairly good instructions about how and where to measure your foot.

Usually, they're backed up a few months, but it's worth the wait. Good luck with the White's. When you get them, you'll love them.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mike

Have not been mentioned yet, They are boots, but feel as light and flexible as running shoes. Blundstone boots. I wear them every day!

Also Teva's, New Balance, and Redwings.

I have a pair of steel-toe Cats I've been wearing for 4 1/2 years and they're still solid. For comfy it's gotta be high top All-Stars.

My favorite sneakers, by far, are Columbia Trail Grinders. Both my wife and I have purchased more expensive stuff like Lowa and Merrel, and the Trail Grinders are what we both wear. I've never had a pair of sneakers so durable and comfortable. Awesome stuff.
