Folders (manual assisted & auto): Spyderco, Kershaw, CRKT (KISS knives, some of their other "contraptions" are rubbish)
Fixed: Ontario, KaBar, CRKT, Cold Steel

If you're going for mass-produced, reasonably-priced EDC (every day carry), Spyderco has been the most consistent quality/value and their support is has been 2nd to none for me. I've *properly beat the ever-loving crap out of a native and delica and they just will not give up.

*Properly defined as using the knife as a folding knife. Not a pry-bar, throwing knife, staple remover, bottle/can opener, shovel, or a makeshift hammer nor any attempts at cutting materials known to be harder than the steel the blade is constructed from.

For me, it fluctuates between two. All I bought was Benchmade, then it was only Spyderco, now its Benchmade again. I'm thinking about buying a Navaja soon though, so it'll lead to another Spyderco binge. Oh and for those of you who complain about Benchmade being over priced, they're priced quite competitively if you know where to look.

I guess I could have favorites as far as companies go. But I look at knives as individuals. I see the overall design and materials before I see the company name that made it. Just because I like one design a company makes does not mean I like every knife that company makes. Now there are companies that have several designs that I like, but for the most part I look first at the overall design, materials, and quality of an individual knife before i declare loyality to one company.

Designs I like:
Strider SMF
Emerson Super CQC-8
Cold Steel Recon 1 (2010)
Cold Steel rajah 2
Kershaw Skyline
Spyderco Military
Spyderco Yojimbo(new model)
5.11 karambits

just to name a few..

Production: Spyderco, ZT and Kershaw. Spyderco just gets it. They listen to their target audience, interact and produce some excellent knives. ZT and Kershaw take care of their customers, period. They have built a loyalty amongst their customers because they take care of them. I LOVE ZT designs.
Semi-Custom: Hinderer - He builds GREAT knives and takes care of customers
Auto: Protech - Dave REALLY takes care of his customers and builds a great auto.
Fixed Blade - Esee- Just like Spyderco, they interact and take care of their customers. They will go far. I'd add Busse if they weren't so expensive. They are a great knife though.
