your favorite neck knife?

The Bark River Bravo Necker is kinda growing on me.

+1  , after looking at a ton of neck knives this is the one I just ordered. I chose it because it has a full convex blade with a smooth non-coated cutting surface, it's stainless, and it has some nice features like optional handle scales, fire steel that fits in the sheath, and it comes in a multitude of blade and handle colors!

Got this one last month from Bruce Culberson. Very functional little utility knife with some nice looking scales.

This is my first neck knife (the Izula) and I absolutely love it. Handle by Phillip Dobson.

Maybe a Carter in the future.

I have looked long and hard for the Satin/Bead Blasted? finished Izula like Hitthespot shows. They don't even have them on the RAT site.

Anyone know why that is? Love the handle too btw.

I don't neck carry anymore (Use a different method now), but my favorites are:

HAK (I have a Joe Brum S30V model that I EDC).
Spyderco Swick
Emerson La Griffe

I prefer a finger hole for indexing & retention. I've never had an Izula, but that would probably be my 1st choice if I were to get a regular type knife for that type of carry. Another good one is BM's 210/211 (S30V/D2).

Im pretty sure ur referring to the izula prototype that a few around here have before the production version was released. these are no longer made obviously!

EDIT: I misunderstood your post. Hitthespot's izula is the desert tan version, not satin finished! they are on the website.

Neck carry is my preferred method for a fixed blade. My favorite neck knife (and indeed, my favorite knife hands down) is my first Murray Carter necker. Here it is on the Continental Divide Trail:

I just haven't fully bonded with my second Carter necker. In all objective respects, it should be an "improvement" on my first, but it is just a little heavier and less comfortable to carry. I brought it on an Alaska bike tour this summer:

Honorable mention must go to my maple BRKT Mini Northstar. It's generally similar to my Carters, but stainless. Still seems like it has less absolute cutting power for similar dimensions and mass. Sorry no pics, it's in a few pieces today as I replace the hollow pins with mosaic.

I like the MNS so much I recently picked up another in maroon micarta/mosaic:

I also really like my Krein Ultimate Caper. I wanted one in 3V but the D2 is fine, the green fibermascus is beautiful and the grind is, of course, excellent. IMHO Krein kydex is excellent too. This is my lightest necker and the easiest to carry.

I've been tempted to get an Izula or Bravo Necker but I just don't like coated blades or skeleton handles. Although I know it is popular, I really dislike cord-wrapped neck knives. IME the paracord just absorbs sweat, oil, food, rain, etc.

jlamb, this thread has a ton of excellent suggestions. As you look for a "neck knife", I might suggest expanding your search beyond knives that are explicitly named such. Find any lightweight knife that appeals to you and have a neck sheath made.

I like the Izula and the Bark River Mikro Canadian. Small fixed blades are awesome, but I rarely wear them around my neck - the Izula usually goes in a zipped jacket pocket, or in a backpack.

I have a CRKT Dogfish. I like it, but if I had an Izula, I would prefer that. The bottle opener on the dogfish comes in handy though.

I'm diggin' my Landi PSK lately, which is intended as a necker. I don't carry it as one though.

I'd consider my Buck Smidgen for neck carry - totally small, light and unobtrusive.

That stripped and handled Izula up above is beautiful. I have never paid them much attention before seeing that!

Yeah, that Izula with the handle sure doesn't look Tan to me. How could the coating get stripped off without losing the logo though?

Are you talking about a knife you're going to use during the course of the day or are we talking about an ONION FIELD sort of thing?

When you ask for a recommendation, are there size, weight or cost considerations? Will you be using it for gun retention, last minute attacks against human assailants, cutting cords you might become entangled with on sea or while parachuting? No one neck knife will be the best for all these applications. For defense, I like the Cold Steel K4, but it's far too big for most people, yet it fits nicely beteen a shirt and a Kevlar vest.
