My Kiwi is right beside my tv viewing recliner, it gets a lot of mail opening duty. I have a gent down on the east coast that I'm having him rehandle mine in scrimshawed ivory.

Went with wharncliffe for it's utility, but reverse S was a close back-up. If there was a more stout reverse S in SE then I would be all over that for my yardwork. Pity it comes in only MeerKAt/Cricket size or Matriarch/Civilian non-utility blades

no captain.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing, I love my Captain but if there was a name for every odd Spydie blade shape this poll would be twice as long :p

So far in all of your polls RamZar, I seem to lean towards a leaf shaped FFG with Almite handle and liner lock. Put it together with 3 1/2" of M4 and I'm all over it.

The Stretch has my favorite blade shape of any Spyderco knife, bar none. I'm just not sure which of the above categories that would fall into. PM2 is a close second.

Drop-point - modified? Probably includes GB and perhaps even Southard...

I'd call it a spear point, but Spyderco refers to the Stretch's blade as a modified drop point.

What's really odd is that the blade shape that is arguably the most "iconic" to Spyderco is missing from that chart. Namely, the shape used on the Standard, Police, Endura, Delica, Military, ParaMilitary, Rookie, Scorpius, Ladybug, Manbug, and probably at least a couple others.

As for me, I don't really have a favorite. I love my wharncliffe Kiwis, my leaf bladed CF Chaparral and my drop point Centofante Memory. I also love the Stretch, but would love it at least as much with a modified Bowie blade like the Dyad's, or a straight spined one like the Military's.

I voted spear point. With Spyderco, the spear and leaf are very similar but I like a little less belly. The Caly 3.5 is the perfect utility shape for me.

Here's an attempt at identifying the blade shapes for some of the models you listed:

  • Police: Spear Point
  • Endura: Drop Point
  • Delica: Drop Point
  • Military: Modified Clip-Point
  • ParaMilitary: Modified Clip-Point
  • Ladybug: Modified Clip-Point
  • Manbug: Modified Clip-Point

My favorite atm, is whatever the Gayle Bradley has....I really like the shape. I will say that the Wharncliffe is also turning into a utility profile I am liking a lot, that I never thought I would like.

According to Blade HQ, Gayle Bradley = modified drop point....
just can't seem to be able to leave home without it.

Poll failure! Different people will determined the same blade to fall into different categories. To do this and have accurate results there needs to be a list of common Spydercos with the type of blade attached.

I like the utility of the spear point because I like a keen tip but a blade that gets thicker relatively close to the point. When I say spear point I am talking about the Starmate. My second choice would be the blade of the Manix 2 or Para 2. Functionally they both work well for me although I do like the appearance of the manix 2 blade a little better.
