My favorite blade shape is on the Vallotton. Not sure if the span to style is closest to spear point or what, but that's what I voted for.

I went with the bowie shape. Perrin design as opposed to the one pictured. Leaf shape is a really close second, but I don't have one anymore.

I went with the wharncliffe. I use a knife for camping/hunting no more than one a month but I need a blade around the house everyday. The wharny is better for most of those tasks.....not counting cooking🍗!

Has Spyderco ever made a double edge/ dagger? Just checking?

Probably modified clip-point. I would love to see a full flat ground wharncliffe blade like on the Urban, but at about 3 inches. Maybe a wharncliffe native?

Leaf shape

It's non-threatening (or at least, less threatening than say a clip point), it's effective at most tasks, and it's attractive. Or at least, attractive to me.

My problem with the leaf shape is that it adds a lot of width to the blade, and that consumes a lot more pocket space than I like. I much prefer the drop point. Here's one of my favorites:

Easier for me to answer the opposite question: I try to stay away from concave and Tanto, but I have Civilian and Ulize as exceptions.

All the other blade shapes have their purpose :)

I wish we'd get a >= 4" Wharnie ....

Wow, this thread was an oldie, but still relevant.
Modified clip for me. But no other production company can nail the leaf shape or hawkbill quite like Spyderco. It's honestly a tie between the 3 of them imo.

Sneaking wharnie out seems to be trending. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Police 4 LW wharnie in Prototype already.

Spear point, I guess, but it's hard not to just say "all of the above." LOL! ;)

I have lots of knives w/a spear point but my current Spyder favorite with it is the Native Chief. At least that's what I think you'd call its blade shape. Whatever it's called, I currently like it best.

It's alive!!! It's alive!!! Why bring a four-year-old thread back to life?

Now I have to answer it...Spyderco D'Allara 3.

Interesting question. I think I like the Police 3 G10 best. I like it so much I bought 2.
On the other hand, the fat blubbly leafs cut like nothing else..Manix 2, Manix 2 XL,
Shaman, Lil Native...I prize highly because they cut like mad!
I have always thought Spyderco blades lacked in the visual appeal dept somewhat...
but...they cut like mad. They work. Ever since my first Endura with its molded clip
I have prized them for ergos and cutting. I tend to love profiles they do not make,
and that do not cut nearly as well.

That being said, I especially like Spyderco knives because most are thin behind the edge
and made of decent steel. They sharpen easily and cut better than any other blade I own.

Combined with ergos that are superior, it makes a winning combo. The Para 2 in M390
gets a lot of pocket time from me on weekends...and the Lil Native lives in my pocket at
work. Because they cut and are ergonomic as hell.
I find the Shaman a fail for a toy knife...and prize it highly as a serious working/camping
knife. It is heavy duty and built to work hard. Perhaps my most capable Spyderco....

I guess I did not answer the question...I have come to trust Sal and Eric and don't
really care that much about the shape. Whatever they come up with works so well
it does not matter. FWIW.

no captain.
Yeah I've often wondered myself how they would classify that blade on the C-111 Captain model. It gripes me that they never made the Captain or Jason Breeden's other Spyderco gem i.e. The Breeden RESCUE either one in Spyderedge. Both knives would have performed much better in SE for sure. Even the prototype of the Captain was originally made in SE. At least the inner arch part of the blade was SE.
But again I don't know how you would classify the C-111 Captain model of Spyderco's???

P’kal shaped. So a very slight hawkbill.

If Spyderco would do some clip points with sharpened clips I would be all over that.

I love the Lum Tanto blade too and seeing it on the pm2 tanto they teased made me want the knife very badly. I must love it since it turned a blade shape I don’t love (the pm2) into a knife I am dying to get.
