The compression lock is my favorite, but unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the models that use it...

Right now I have liner and frame lock spydies.

I generally shy away from back locks but I'm trying to warm up to them. So many great spydercos are back locks and I feel I'm doing myself a disservice by avoiding them.

I guess back lock, but I want to like the compression lock. Also excited for the power lock

Something about the Integral lock that I really like. I am used to all the compression locks too which hold up very well.

So, the discontinued Meerkat was the only Spyderco folder that had the Phantom Lock?
Yes, it was.

And in the other category, you need to add the weird rare earth magnet lock that the T-Mag uses.
More like a SlipJoint than a lock?
Trie. but there are several non-locking "locks" on the chart. And, given that, the "ball joint" mechanism used on the Terzuola SlipIt would be yet another "other".

The only Spyderco I own that isn't a back lock is a Tenacious.

I wish I liked the compression lock. I fondled a PM2 this week and tried it again. It just doesn't feel good with my left-handedness.

I like anything I can operate one-handed, meaning I never buy back lock knives.

I was buying liner lock knives before other one-hand lock types and I have no problem with them. I don't have a problem with frame locks either from a lock standpoint but it bothers me that one side of the knife can have a nice scale while the other side doesn't. I've had PM2's for awhile and I like the knife but I didn't rate the lock as anything special until more recently. Now I have a few Manix 2's with the BBL and I've come to appreciate them.

Knives with liner lock, frame lock or compression lock seem to operate similarly- the lock has a ball detent that rubs against the side of the blade and adds friction. The blades all feel the same when opening them, not much way to change that feel. The BBL is somewhat unique in that you can change the detent and the way that feels by reshaping the blade tang. The lock also starts to engage before the blade is completely open, with liner lock the lock can't operate until the blade is completely open and if you open it slowly it will not engage the same. When closing the knife I hold it with the edge pointing down, operate the lock, the blade swings part way closed, I finish closing it with my thumb- very quick and easy and foolproof, unlike a liner lock. I owned a Para2 for over a year and it wasn't until i was using the Manix2 that I discovered that the easiest way for me to close the Para2 was basically the same way.

I voted BBL because it is somewhat unique but I like all locks other than back lock and lock type is not a consideration when I am buying a knife.

I choose Back lock for its rustic character, and the feeling of real good lock it have. And in second I would choose the Linerlock, for being easy to use in one hand.

Spyderco's frame lock is my favorite. I've yet to own a bad Spyderco frame lock. The lock up is always perfect and rock solid with no lock stick. In my experience, the Taichung factory makes better frame locks than CRKs.

I voted compression lock. I absolutely love my PM2's. Second for me would be the back lock, as the majority of my Spyderco collection utilizes it. Frame and liner locks pretty much tied for 3rd. CBBL is last, only because my Manix2 doesn't get much pocket time, and I'm not as familiar with it. Haven't had any experience with the bolt lock yet.

I voted for the back lock because my favorite models are all back locks with the only exception being the Sage 1.

I voted back lock because I am left handed. It is a familiar lock and works fine. None of their locks have disappointed me.

Hmmm... I open and close MOST of my Spyderco lock back knives one handed. I hardly even think about it anymore.
Pretty much the same here, except I can't think of any back lock Spyderco I own that I can't close one handed, and I own pretty much every back lock model they've made.

I didn't like the compression lock at first on the Szabo, but after trying it on a Yojimbo2 it changed my mind.

Back lock by far. I own a PM2 and prefer the backlock to the compression lock. Just personal preference for a back (mid) lock.

I voted compression lock. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but after owning the PM2 and Yo2, I've found it to be the easiest to operate with one hand and it locks up really solid. The back lock is also very solid, but all of my back locks tend to need more force to open the blades. Most of my liner locks are solid, but I hate putting my finger under the blade to unlock the knife. My one bolt lock is very smooth and easy to open, but the lock is still very stiff when unlocking, although it is getting better.
