Your First Photo of a Slipjoint

...
I am so jealous of your blackboard. :(
John, my department moved to a brand new building two years after I joined the faculty. Each of us got to have a lot of input in the furnishings of our offices (shelves, work surfaces, file cabinets, furniture location, etc.). Many of my older colleagues opted for white boards in their offices, but I asked that the chalkboard in my old office (which was actually a dorm room originally) be installed in the new office. Some of our classrooms still have chalkboards, too, which I prefer.

(Could you read anything on the board? I discovered that the MacBook camera produces a mirror image of the object being photographed, so the writing on the board in the pic is reversed.)

It's hard to make out, especially in reverse. My son thinks possibly dirac notation? Heck, I've been teaching high school math for so long I hardly even remember any real math any more. :D

The standard of photography has certainly come on leaps and bounds here on The Porch :)

I think this is my first photograph of a slipjoint, taken in 1991

And, as it happens, I think that the first photo I posted on The Porch was of the same knife :)

While I stand by my earlier statement that my photography skills haven’t improved, I should probably amend it to point out that my skills have apparently degraded.

Here’s the earliest knife photo I could find on my phone. Acquiring this South African Solo took some time and effort.
