I'm changing full time jobs and will be mostly wearing suit pants so I was looking for a small Knife to put in my pocket and carry around. I wont be doing anything major with it but want a good little knife. I was looking at the Spyderco Grasshopper and also the Victorinox pocket pal/secretary. They both seem to fit the bill. Any input on either or which would be preferred or any others in this size. Thanks

I think either would work just fine, OP, but I'd pick the Victorinox. You ought to take a look at the Victorinox Cadet as well: light, slim, good-lookin' and has a couple more tool options without a lot of added bulk. Dressy enough for a suit but casual enough for jeans.

Good luck! :)

I carry a Rough Rider 858 small trapper in my watch pocket. just under 2.5 inches closed.
Looks like a small Barlow, to me.

I find the Benchmade 530 a perfect fit for my office wear.At 1.88 oz I can't even tell it is there but when I need it 3.25 inches of 154CM is handy indeed.
On the rare occasion it spooks someone I hand it to them and tell them I like it because it is so light in pocket.Everybody I have done that to have been very
impressed by it's miniscule weight and thinness and agreed it was a perfect gentleman's carry!!!

I live in North Carolina...your results may vary.

So 530 for me.Perfect dress knife!!!

Case Mini Trapper bone handled

Victorinox Secretary

Victorinox Bantam Alox

All of those are very small and thin knives that will carry effortlessly in a pocket.

A good old fashioned red handled Victorinix is about as min threatening a knife that ever existed. A Tinker would be slightly larger but still be an acceptable choice for a dress knife.

I personally carry the secretary most often.

I usually go with the Secretary as a "suit-knife" - it's so much thinner and lighter than most any other pen knife or my beloved Peanuts that it is almost unnoticeable in a trouser (even more so in a jacket) pocket.

The Victorinox Alox Cadet would be about perfect. Also, take a look at the Spyderco Manbug and Ladybug.

4 suggestions, priced low to high: Opinel 6, Victorinox Cadet, Spyderco Air, Panchenko Bean.

The SRM 702 has a clip, and I usually carry my Air or Fallkniven U2 in a slip sheath with a clip.

I haven't worn a suit in decades, but the Falkniven FH9 is a great coin pocket knife. Prettiness makes a difference when I pull out a knife in professional company.

I'd also suggest a cadet. It has been one of my go to EDC pieces when wearing anything other than jeans.

If you have finger nails - SAK
If not - Spyderco Ladybug (or manbug, I just think the lady bug is better looking). My pick would be zdp189 PE or H1 SE

Same for me or a Boker Plus Elegance or Blues... I used to have a Spyderco Dragonfly and Cricket; either works pretty well for suit pants carry as well.

I really like the Leek for those situations. I carry a slim (non folding) wallet, that has a magnetic money clip, and the Leek sticks to the clip; perfectly discreet.
