Your longest run with a single knife.

My Dad bought me this Buck Cadet in 1999. It was my first pocketknife and, until this time last year, it was the only knife I had ever carried. I just figured, “Well, I’ve got that whole pocketknife thing taken care of...” Then I started looking around and wondered what the deal was with all these crazy one handed opening, thumb studded, thumb holed, flipping, new fangled (new to me) folding knives. In the year since, I’ve enjoyed learning about, collecting and cutting with my new finds.

Your dad certainly knew a good knife when he saw one.
I'm pretty sure my dad knows, but didn't care enough not to buy my first knife from the dollar tree.

Beginning in very late -80's or very early -90's (my best guess is late -89) I carried a EKA Swede 88 (smooth cocobolo? and 12C27 blade) until -95 or -96 more or less every day. That is most likely my longest run with a single knife. I replaced it with a actually quite crappy Cold Steel liner lock that I carried for maybe a year before it got so bad blade play combined with me getting fed up with AUS-8 that I replaced it with two Benchmades (mini-AFCK and original Stryker) that I occasionally still carry.
After that my carry have been mixed, seldom one knife carried for more then a week in a row, often just a day or two for those in the rotation.

I’ve been very fortunate. And once I learned what a Buck 110 was, I realized that, for all those years, that’s what was in that black leather pouch everyday on his work belt. The Buck brand will always be important to me. What would you guys get from Buck nowadays? I’m very intrigued by the Marksman.

I always carry this. It was lost for years, when a co-worker took it out of my desk and left it up high while putting up Xmas lights at work. I got it back and keep it on me now. This and a large locking folder is my EDC.

First I got the 425 minibuck in 2009, my beloved 110 in around 2013, my beloved 482 in 2014, then a 283 nano bantam in 2015. I plan on getting a 119 next, then maybe a 300 series slipjont at some point.
I've heard lots of good things about the marksman, though never owned one because I prefer lockbacks and slipjoints.
You should ask on the Buck forum here what current stuff fellow Buck lovers like.

Thanks, Hickory. I will go check out that Buck forum and read up on those Bucks that you listed.

I've had my Victorinox Cybertool 29 in my pocket for probably 13 years, give or take. My tastes have changed over the years, from big tactical folders to autos and balisongs to more practical knives and now smaller traditional style knives, but the Cybertool 29 has remained constant. I don't see this changing.

I have a small William Henry that my wife gave me for Xmas 20+ years ago that has been in my pocket every day since (except when I had to fly)...

Cheers/bg

I carried a Spyderco SS Dragonfly for nearly ten years. Still a great little knife, and I carry it sometimes just for old times' sake.

A couple of different Sebenzas for me. I exclusively carried a Sm Seb. for 2-3 years. Then I "discovered" the Lg. Seb. I may have carried a beater along with the Large, but the
Rage was with me probably 20+ days a month for a few years.

The longest with one knife for me would be about 5 or 6 yrs. I was gifted a Buck 501 when I was 11 or 12 and had it until my senior year of high school. I lost it, along with my class ring. I didn't care about the ring but I replaced that Buck 501 with a Buck 112.

Roughly three years with my Spyderco Delica 4. Next closest would be 10 months with my Emerson Mini CQC-7BW.

Prior to getting into knives and as a tool for opening and breaking down boxes I carried a Gerber EAB until I lost it

A black on black combo edged Tenacious was in my pocket daily for.. A year or so I'd say. It was actually a Christmas gift from my brother. He gets me a Tenacious, gets himself a 940-1, haha. Before that it was a random knife here and there so I'm pretty confident that was the knife I carried the longest.

After I picked up my PM2 I went on a bit of a spending spree and now I have a nice little 3 knife rotation(not counting fixed blades).

Ive been carrying a Spyderco Police for over 25 years, and a folding Buck Kalinga 419 on the belt for close to 10 years now.

The Marksman is quite cool. Full disclosure: I have the SK exclusive version with S35VN steel but I presume that the build quality is equally good across the line. The lock is an updated version of the classic pick lock designed by the father and son team of Grant and Gavin Hawk that they call the "Strong Locking System" (or something like that) and is deceptively strong and very easy to use. The ergos are not stellar and I probably wouldn't want to spend all day cutting with the knife but for a more typical EDC it's perfectly fine. The flipping action is really slick and fun but quite different from all the frame lock flippers out there.

This is the kind of knife that is not going to appeal to everyone but for some people (like me) it will be a real treasure. You don't (at least I don't) think of Buck as being really innovative lately but this is one of the most unique modern knives available.

I played with a Buck Marksman at Bass Pro. It was pretty cool. It’s on my “to buy” list but admittedly that list is miles long.

Carried my ESEE Izula on my belt from the time I got it to the time I left Colorado, about 3.5 years. Still goes around in a pocket sheath sometimes if I know I'll need a fixed blade.
