Your longest run with a single knife.

I think my longest run with a single knife was about a kilometer.

That's pretty respectable, Stab. Try it with a featherweight Benchmade Bugout, bet you get a couple dozen more meters.

Carried a Gerber Bolt Action knife back in the day. Don't know how long I had it, but it was a good stretch. Damn thing just worked.

Then I got into BFC. Haven't been able to pack one knife for very long since. But I think this Bugout is gonna be a runner.

Now I'm curious, what are the nine available carry positions?!

I have this Case Mini Trapper with a pen blade that I've carried since 1973. The pen I've used for everything from cutting boxes to fish; the clip I sort of saved for surgical stuff like picking splinters and such

Carried since I bought it new in late 1981 for 10 years or so then On and off since it was taken out of EDC rotation 26 years ago and replaced by my Benchmade 730 Ares (which also saw 10+ years of continuous carry)

No pics but an old dlc black coated Spyderco full serrated police model since.... let me see if I can remember. Maybe around 1990 or so I believe and it'd still going. It's just soooo flat and comfy in the pocket compared to say an emerson 7 or the Satu or others I've had in the past.

Got one of these when I joined the Boy Scouts at age 12, carried it 15 years, used it for everything from whittling fire sticks, playing "Stretch," opening C rats when I was in the army, improvising plumb lines, all kinds of etc. and never without it until giving it to a girl friend who lost it. By that time, it was pretty rasty, but I always remembered it fondly, and reminisced about it to a friend. Thirty years later, the good fellow found this one at a yard sale for a dollar, remembered my telling him about my Kamp King, and bought it for me. So it isn't the original, but still a souvenir of my youth and of a thoughtful friend.

The knife I've carried the continuously longest and still carry daily is my Victorinox Executive SAK, since 1999.

My second-longest carry was an older version of the Victorinox Spartan, which was the only knife I carried for about 10 years back in the late '80s to late '90s.

I had a red Spyderco Ladybug on my keyring for close to a decade.

Benchmade 812HS 15 years, used for everything under the sun, now semi retired.
Couple of 10 year stretches before that with stockmans.

Longest run with that single knife? I have run 12 miles with a Para2 IWB in my gym shorts. ;)

Seriously though, I carried a Benchmade 3550 for about 9 years straight. At that time it was actually my only nice folder.

Aw! You beat me to it!
I was going to say that my Kabar Next Generation stays in my backpack for trail running and the longest run with it is about 4 miles. Probably 150+ miles with that knife so far. :p:thumbsup:

The Marksman is quite cool. Full disclosure: I have the SK exclusive version with S35VN steel but I presume that the build quality is equally good across the line. The lock is an updated version of the classic pick lock designed by the father and son team of Grant and Gavin Hawk that they call the "Strong Locking System" (or something like that) and is deceptively strong and very easy to use. The ergos are not stellar and I probably wouldn't want to spend all day cutting with the knife but for a more typical EDC it's perfectly fine. The flipping action is really slick and fun but quite different from all the frame lock flippers out there.

This is the kind of knife that is not going to appeal to everyone but for some people (like me) it will be a real treasure. You don't (at least I don't) think of Buck as being really innovative lately but this is one of the most unique modern knives available.

Thanks for giving me the info on the Marksman, Smasher. That Strong Lock and the flipping mechanism are what really made me wonder “What IS this thing?!” And yeah, it’s a neat surprise to see something so different from Buck. I may have to make it my Christmas present to myself.

Howdy folks!https://flic.kr/p/D1RpqG
I hope I am doing this right.
The first knife I purchased as I am adult was the Buck 505. I carried it for well over 10 years. I was quite poor and couldn’t afford another knife till later.

Remember a while back I made a thread trying to use a single knife for a year?

Well I never really stopped.

I've carried a lot of stuff since then, and every time I always try to think "just this for a year".

And yes, I still think the PM2 is perfect, just like my thread.

But thats just it. Its the perfect "knife".

More often than not, I need to scrape, pry, screwdrive (is that a word?) and the PM2 wasn't made for that stuff. (Maybe scraping, but no prying).

So I threw my Vic Pioneer in my pocket.

Its only been 8 days, but I decided to ask Bladeforums just for fun.

What's your longest run with a single knife?
Pictures would be fantastic. Especially if its all scratched and beat up.

My longest was also a Pioneer, but a different one. About 10 months.

Sorry about my hypocritical lack of pictures. Photobucket is being mean to me lately. But I'm sure y'all know what a Vic Pioneer looks like.

Wow!
Sorry to just post the thread and leave. Life got busy.
Lots of sweet pics and stories here now!

But there's some bad news.
I was working on my roof yesterday, still carrying my Pioneer.
Well a wild Phillips screw appeared, and the Pioneer was put to the task.
The screw won.
I tried the can opener driver first, because it fit the screw much better than the larger one.
It was so tight, that I twisted the end of the tool to the point it now hits the other driver/can opener.

My fault, I know.
But it still sucks to think I ruined a $40 knife, nonetheless a knife I was really starting to get scratched up and broken in.

I must see this!
It honestly doesn't look that bad. I broke the tip off, and reprofiled it. The DLC blade has scratches, and the handles are kinda smooth now. It's also real dull as I suck at sharpening the recurve. The knife is actually retired as of right now, and has been replaced by an Adamas, ZT 0909, and a Spyderco Military.
