I've heard the 0450 is easy to put finger pressure on the lock which makes it hard to open if you aren't paying attention.

And the 0804 requires you to close the blade about 40 deg before the blade hits the detent ball and requires a bit more pressure to push the lock out so the ball rides onto the blade. If your particular lock is a bit stiff it puts the blade where it's not easy to push the blade with your fingers without changing hand position. It's not easy to explain but hopefully you get what I'm saying.

Hopefully others will comment on those 2 things.

Why don't you like Benchmade? A smooth AXIS lock is about as fun to flip open and just as importantly, flip closed, as you can find. My personal favorite is the 950 Rift.

The Reate Horizon D is the most recent one that I've been really impressed with. It will be my next knife. The wave also looks great but is a little smaller than I like and I haven't been able to fondle it yet.

benchmade have poor fit and finish, otherwise i like the designs. all mine have side to side play and if you goto Nick Shabazz on youtube you can see in his videos the fit and finish issues that me and others are dealing with. so i cannot recommend them until they fix these problems. the action on my 484 and 940-1 are great, with side to side play, any more torque on the pivot and they dont open for ****.

804 because its got a big slab of carbon fiber on one side and the action is amazing and drop shuts too. my 450 is nice, but i just like the 804cf so much more. the 450 is just too scary to carry. other people just freak out when they see it. and for that reason alone i dont recommend it. the action is much different than the 804cf, its still smooth but it slams shut rather than drop shut and the detent is really strong (in the 0450).

the 804cf can be had for give or take around $215

I don't understand the "450/452 too scary" statements I always see.

1st, who cares what someone else thinks.
2nd, everyone that's seen mine thinks its badass.

They put that big clip (much bigger than the one on the much larger 0452) on the 0450 because if you put you middle finger there, no worries. Within a minute I had my 0450 flippin' hard and easy. Just locate your middle finger on that indent on the clip and flip away.

Zero Tolerance 0900

I simply love this knife! It is small, but it is a flipping beast!

Second place goes to the ZT 0450 that I converted to a 450CF.

Modern folders include an old cpm 440v military and a manix 2 xl for most enjoyable to use, traditional folders would be a buck 110 and an opinel no. 8, favorite fixed blade would have to be my mora classic.

I also have a 450 CF and a 452 CF and both are great knives and those along with the 562 CF and 804 CF caused a change in my collection. I like all 4 of these very different knives each for different reasons and because of them I have started thinning out other knives that I don't carry any more. Sold my Sebenza and don't miss it, have a LNIB PM2 that I am trying to trade or sell because I never carry it as well as a Griptilian that never sees pocket time. I used to carry a McCusta as a "gentlemans" knife and now I carry the 450CF, so it will be going sometime soon as well. Fact of the matter is everyone likes different things for different reasons and one is never enough.

That's strange to hear. I have a couple dozen Benchmade knives and while I haven't bought one in a couple years, they have no fit and finish issues. Maybe a couple slightly off center and not all were razor sharp but similar and on par with my Spyderco knives.

I have some with a little horizontal play if you grab the blade and wiggle it and are looking for it. But they are also AXIS lock knives that I have loose enough to swing freely back and forth with the lock pulled back so I can effortlessly flip them open and closed. If I tightened them a hair where they were smooth but not frictionless as they are now, any play would go away, again, like any of my average Spyderco knives.

Guess when I get home I will see what some of the videos are pointing out as that's not my experience.

Not my experience either. I have about 20 BMs and have no issues with any of them. They all fly open and lock up TIGHT. All are centered.

But what are your most enjoyable Joe?!

I ask, mainly, because I have serious knife envy of a chunk of your collection.

Man of all my knives my favorites are my Manix 2 and my Buck 110. You can go crazy on a 110 and put S30V on it with African blackwood and silver bolsters. Mine is just brass and Walnut though with the old 420HC Buck is famous for in their knives. Manix is probably easier to carry though and it's a superb knife.

Enjoyability is a funny thing to define and a very subjective. A heart more than head thing. Personally it is more about pride of ownership and the feeling a knife gives me rather than how fun it is to flick and play with. Same reason I'd rather drive my aussie built falcon than an M3.

In terms of knives, usually I enjoy the newest knife for a while then get bored. The knives that have retained that enjoyability factor for me are:

1) Strider SnG
2) Buck Vantage
3) Emerson cqc7

My most enjoyable folders are a Victorinox recruit and a buck 110.

I love the vic recruit because it just plain works and I love knowing that I could probably get buy with just it for edc.

The buck 110 just gives me joy because it's an unmistakable classic which I got as my highschool graduation gift, and I love the fact that my dad and my grandmother both used to own them.
According to my grandmother when she right saw mine " those were the shit back in the day ".
Personally I think they still are and always will be " the shit "

Id say my most enjoyable/fun knife is my zt0450cf. I think the 0452 is better looking but something about the 0450 i enjoy a little more.
The Mamba is a fun knife too. Has a big 'thunk' to it like the 0560, which is also fun to play with.
I would have to say i had a benchmade mini rukus with the forest green handles that was a really cool knife to mess with. It was one of the smoothest bms ive ever owned. Seemed like it was a step above the regular line up.

And the spyderco techno. I am usually not a fan of slick handles, thick bladed, chubby knives, but somehow it lured me in.
