Current
Benchmade Bugout - 3 years, literal every day carry

Previous
Kershaw Blackout - 6 or 7 years, though some days of that period I didn't carry any knife
Benchmade Auto Presidio - 5 years as work EDC, not carried outside of work

All of these are in my pocket at sometime or another. However, 95% of the time, right column second from the bottom is in my pocket.

The 940 is for me...almost annoyingly perfect. In some ways I wish it didn’t exist because then I wouldn’t always compare all other knives to it. For me the other two that are also “multi box checkers” are the para 3 and the 0450; but even they fall short of my 940.

The para 3 is great but I always favor the tip and it feels a bit squarish after an 8 hour shift, not so with the 940’s ample tip thickness and amazing thinness. Plus I like being able to open and close the knife in both hands = axis lock.

the 0450 is great but the handle doesn’t fill my mitts so well and there is the left hand usage thing again. The 0450 has a few pointy contours on the handle as well.

For many years I didn’t get the 940 thing. It just didn’t appeal to me. I bought one after finally handling it at my local knife shop and, all of the sudden, it started showing up in my pocket.

It has almost driven me to madness. Before I acquired the 940 I Would simply piecemeal my carry knife to fit an occasion...nothing approached one knife that would serve all my needs. Now instead of buying knives that I simply like, I feverishly seek the one which will supplant my 940’s incredible abilities.

Curse you Benchmade and your 940!!!!

What's the blacked out knife at the top right, haven't seen that one before?

If I had to pick one knife it would still be the Paramilitary 2. I buy and sell quite a bit over the years, but that's my go to at the end of the day.
I like the way it looks, feels, cuts, steel(s), opening, lock, weight. It just checks all the boxes for me.

There's a handful of others that I go back to, but not quite like the pm2.

I remember that EDI Genesis it was a pretty nice folder, seems like forever since the last time I held one!

My most lasting folder was the Vic side locking Adventurer (111mm). This was an "upgrade" from a Vic Soldier or regular Tinker. Have both. The Adventurer was discontinued and they have a liner lock version now. I carried it for about 15 years before switching to a Vic Small Tinker. But I still have several in the box should I wish to change back. I have larger knives, but I don't carry them except when a need arises. Doesn't happen often to be honest about it.

Well....you could always buy another 940. There is lots of variety of them.

My oldest knife is a Buck 110 I got for my duty belt back in the early to mid 70's. It just sits in a drawer now with a bunch of others. The one I've carried daily the longest is the old slim metal handle two blade Wenger Patriot. A friend gave it to me in the mid 90's. For a small slim knife it gets used more than any of my other one's. For the small cutting, the Wenger. For some larger tasks I also carry the sak Huntsman, but I've only been dragging it around for a little over a year.

My Techno was my no.1 for 5 yrs, 2013 to 2018. It’s was the knife I carried and used everyday at work, and at home. I lost the Techno in 2018 and replaced it with a Native 5 in 2018, which has been my work EDC for over 2 yrs. I found the Techno a month or so later clipped to some safety fencing I had been installing, but it didn’t kick the Native out of my pocket. I also picked up a BM Bugout in 2018, and it quickly became my home and around town carry.
Recently I’ve been getting back into the forums and knife community more, and of course I picked up a few new blades. A CRK Inkosi, ZT 0450, and opened a Para3 I had sitting in a drawer for 2 years (was intending to flip). Now I have a few more choices for daily carry, but when I grab the blade I’m going to use, I still grab the Native for work, and the Bugout when I get home. I’ll figit with the others knives but my main carries are still the Native and Bugout.
I don’t know what it is about these knives, I’m not crazy about the Backlock on the Native 5. I prefer 1 handed closers, but love everything else. It’s my Favorite Spyderco by far, just wish it was a frame lock or compression lock like the lil Native. My Para 3 has a smoother action, is lighter and is a 1 hand opener/closer but it just seems unnatural in my hands. I also hate the cheap ass scales on the Bugout but for at home it’s super light, thin, and has a great action. It disappears on my pocket and is the perfect carry when your wearing shorts.
It is nice having a selection of blades to choose from, but the reality is that I could have saved a bunch of money, because these 2 folders are all I need.

I bought both the C01 Worker and C02 Mariner from Sal Glesser at the NYC Sporting Goods show at the Javits Center in 1982. I’ll never forget that day. I was impressed with the knives and you never forget Sal once you meet him. Also David Letterman was there filming a skit for his show

At the time, these 2 knives represented the entire Spyderco inventory

Bought a Coleman Western folder just like this one (not my photo) off the shelf at Sears when I was a kid. Carried constantly for around eight years until I broke the tip off prying (should have known better but felt like an emergency situation at the time). Found one of those screw on "one armed bandit" thumb studs for it after the first year or two. It was a great knife for the money, I wish they still made them.

To replace it, bought a first generation Cold Steel Voyager, despite thinking it was a little crazy to spend $65 on a pocketknife in the 90's. Carried this one every day for about six years. Both got used hard. Also a great knife, I still have it.

Since then, have had Benchmade, Spyderco, Victorinox, Buck, and Cold Steel folders on rotation. All good, but none have been so dominant. I still think its crazy to spend Chris Reeve money on a pocketknife. Maybe one day...

To me the best is a Boye folder. Dendritic steel that cuts when dull, thin slicy blade, cast sun for one hand opening, pocket clip, light, sunken tang for pocket comfort.
