Remington UMC, is this a "Moose" pattern? Was badly treated, someone has took both flats of the spear to a belt sander. Took me awhile with a diamond stone and various grits emory paper to get the grind marks to where I can live with it.1125181401.jpg Here you can see where they went all the way onto the tang1125181402a.jpg 1125181403.jpgThe strangest thing is they completely ground off the kicks to both blades:eek::mad: the clip blade was hitting the backspring right at the belly. Leaving a big flat spot. I cut shims from the mouth of a plastic soda bottle and slid it down into the knife. Now the blade rests on the softer plastic. Had to create nail recess in the frame to open the spear, its still hard to open. Bout a 9 pull, even after multiple flushing. Both springs snap open strong, however the clip has to be pushed closed. I think the tang is being squeezed by the frame in the last 1/4 inch of travel. I'm afraid to try and open it, I don't want to cause any blade play.

Arrived the other day and am very happy. What started out in life as a 2002 Case Seahorse Whittler was customized into this unique beauty.

Thanks for the compliment! The covers are what GEC calls, “salmon acrylic.” I’m generally partial to natural materials, but it’s the exception that proves the rule, I suppose.

I do think your knife is a moose pattern. Two full sized blades, two springs, opening from opposite ends is the definition, I think. I’m glad you were able to get your knife into a functional state.:thumbsup::cool: It looks quite nice, but boy oh boy, some people should not be allowed near a belt sander!

Nice rescue, Hillbilly!
Don't know why people ruin great old knives like that. I've passed up a lot of beautiful carbon bladed knives on the bay, which had great covers, but the buyer (all of one buyers was like this) feels the need to take a wire wheel to them in an effort to make them "look great", and just gouge it so deep, it's ruined!

I was too slow on this run of #85's, tried for a Salmon (it was marked Pearl initially), had it as standby, but alas, no more!
Nice example on yours!

Thanks for the input and encouragement guys. This was a yard sale find, $20 for it and a colonial serpentine jack and an thrashed ideal camper. I got the camper just to take apart and tinker with and learn. Plus I got the bail to fit my Klein tl29. I'll post some pics soon of the colonial as is to give an example of the belt sander treatment. All 3 had it done. Luckily on the colonial its flat and even and matches the angle of the main bevel. The pen blade it untouched but the edge is in rough shape. I'll restore it next.

Every few days I get an email from Todd Davison @T.A.DAVISON with a new beauty from his shop. I have 4, and have been concentrating on a couple other things lately. But, when I saw this, I said. I have to have that. It's sleek, dressed up a little and the clip blade has become a favorite of mine. The swedge on this blade is absolutely perfect.

I am going to need to sell some traditional folders to recoup the cost, after I sort out what I can part with.

It's a beauty. Some day I'll have one...

Very nice, great 233 with NY stamp, perfect size Jack Knife and then the Bowie with box and registration card is awesome:thumbsup::cool:
Thanks for the comments. I’m definately a multiblade person on a smaller knife and that 233 fits the bill nicely.
