Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Boattale Boattale - Why would that probably be the only GEC you'll ever own? Inquiring minds want to know.
I tend to get one or maybe two top shelf examples of multiple brands of knives with a couple of exceptions - those being Buck and Case which I just like a lot.

Examples: 1 CRK, 1 Lionsteel, 1 Spyderco, 1 Becker, 1 Bark River, 1 Puma, 1 Opinel, 1 old rough Kutmaster TL29, 1 Imperial Barlow, 1 Dozier handmade, 1 local handmade, 1 Schrade (Golden Spike), 2 Randalls, 2 Ontario, 3 BM as I just kept seeing one I wanted a little more, 3 Craftsman that came in one lot. And several SAK to keep around in multiple places they might be needed.

For me to go after another in a brand I already own, the knife has to appeal to me more than the example I have. For another GEC, right now today that's hard to imagine.

The SAK(s) are all you need. ;)

Very nice. 🤠
I like those Swell Ends very much.
I sold mine due to a weak action though. How's yours?

It’s been quite a minute (relatively) since I added a new rig to the stable, but I’ve been saving in my piggy bank as of late and keepin my peepers on the Exchange. I’ve always swooned on Schrade 293’s. I even have a yeller one gifted to me by the venerable Dr. Fleschwund himself. When I saw this 48 with the wharncliffe attachment, I had to jump on it. I’ll put it through the honeymoon phase and see if she’s a keeper before I rip into patina mode.

This guy showed up today. Glad I caved and got one. It’s a bit larger than I normally carry but really is a cool knife. Fit, finish, etc seem quite good. Pull is a nice six and it snaps to the stops. Needs a little edge work but I’ll get to that tomorrow.

Mine showed up today too.
Same pull and snap.

It's too bad, because it's such a good knife.
But for me, if a knife has a soft pull, I'll never carry it.
On mine, the snap it makes to the open position is soft. The half stop and snap closed is fine. I find that very odd, but tolerable.

On a whim I got two gentleman’s knives from Windlass steelcraft from an online merchant, they are inexpensive and have a carbon steel blade, so I wanted to try them out. Fit and finish are are not fantastic but they will stay together, and I may have to work the tang or clean one knife out to see if the point will sit lower than the handle in the closed position. The other sits andA751FAE6-BB38-419B-9ABA-EA605257C279.jpeg52208817-65A8-48FF-976C-724849991894.jpeg snaps fine. Just wondering if anyone else has tried these, (not the Pakistani ones), or the soldiers knife, or ones similar. Be kind, I know they are not great, but i wanted to try them.C837C9CB-BF3D-4394-B2D7-2C49B0FDE734.jpeg

Nothing wrong with trying something new. Especially if its cheap. That's how bargains are found
That said, you are right: those don't look very impressive.
What's really scary are those legs eeksmall.jpg
