One of these days, my extra cash will go toward a camera instead of a knife.

I got a Benchmade Mini Grip in the mail today as part of a swap with another forumite. This is my first Benchmade, so now I finally see what all the fuss is about!

Something very low budget and low profile but high utility is in the mail for me:

Opinel #7 stainless

Should serve me well for light EDC duty (food prep!) and not affront the general public ;)

Just bought this one made by Joe Mandt (www.JMForge.com) - http://gallery.me.com/jmforge/100024/DSC_0138/web.jpg?ver=12881247170001 . It's so new it's still in the mail.

It reminded me of Bill Bagwell's Hell"s Belle designed bowies (see photos on pages 8 and 18 of Bill Bagwell's book "Bowies, Big Knives, and the Best of Battle Blades"). I would love to own one of Bill's but can't afford at this stage but do own the Ontario version. I don't think Joe would mind his work being compared to Bill Bagwell. Joe had sent me detailed specifications for this bowie. Apparently it balances right at the name stamp. It sort of falls between my Cold Steel Laredo and Natchez in many dimensions - respective dimensions or Laredo, this blade, Natchez - blade length 10 1/2 inches, 11 1/4 inches, 11 3/4 inches - OAL 15 11/16 inches, 16 3/4 inces, 17 1/8 inches - and all three I believe are 5/16 inch in blade thickness. Joe didn't have a scale to weigh this bowie but I hope and suspect it is lighter than both the Laredo and the Natchez. It sure looks nice with that stag handle. I look forward to comparing it to my Ontario Bagwell Hell's Belle. This is my first custom bowie.
