Your next new Buck!

I've been waiting for someone to call me on this one.

Man, it's as phony as a $3 bill! No way is it a real Buck. There's no numbers or stamps of any kind on this thing. Just the printed on Strider Buck emblem on the blade. ;)

:confused:Really? I wasnt calling it out. Are you sure? Like I said, I'm no strider man, but now that you mention it, the pivot screw does look nontypical for Buck as does the thumb stud but I could certainly be wrong and lack of stamping would not be unprecidented based on other forum conversations

I figger a 3 dot 110 in excellent to mint-I hope

Ps fingergroove would be a plus:thumbup:

Well, hopefully got 3/4 of my wish. Won a 3 dot 112 today on the bay. Looks like its pretty near mint once cleaned up. Wont know till I get it and see it close up. Fingers crossed:thumbup:(no finger grooves:() ah well:)

Good catch Flatlander.

I now have three on the way (or near-on-the-way for the third one). A 25 year anniversary 110; a prototype for the Bass Pro Alpha Dorado with CPM154 steel (most Dorados have 154CM). And last but not least a 111 BCCI exclusive from 2007.

I assume that next year Buck will make 50 year anniversary 110s and this 25 year one will make a good companion for one of 'em.

:) I know you weren't. In fact, I only put the picture in to see if someone would question it.

I knew it was phony when I first saw it. The pivot screw is the same as another counterfeit I have and I believe they are made by the same company. The box is just a plain generic white box and if you actually handled the knife, you'd have no doubt.

Dave how does it compare in quality to the other fake you bought that looks like a supersized Dorado?

This one's pretty flimsy. It really reminds me of a lot of the cheapo "tacticool" knives that are sold at the swap meet and at the local tobacco shop. It doesn't always lock up real solid either.

The big "Dorado" on the other hand, is a pretty hefty and good feeling knife. If Buck would make one like it, I'd for sure have one or more.

Has anyone played with the Buck Quickfire? Looks like a cool knife and I have not heard much about it.I read somewhere Buck had to lay off 200 employees.I guess they are not to big to fail, if you know what I mean. From now on the only knives I'm buying are Bucks made in the USA!

I bought three of them and I liked them alright. I've given all three away, but I'm going to get myself a couple more.

They are OK, but I found that the ASAP system/lock on it was not as handy to use as the system/lock on say the Rush, Tempest, etc. I had to really concentrate on keeping my thumb or fingers out of the way when opening it. Half the time, one or other of my digits would stop the blade from deploying all the way. I don't have that problem with the others and especially not with the new Paradigm.

Could be I'm just a klutz, but the others are just more klutz proof.

Thanks for the info, knife shops are kind of a thing of the past where I live. All I can do is order online and hope for the best.I'd like to get a custom 110,just hope I don't pay too much it.

Well I got "my next Buck" and am extremely pleased! I'd hope to get a 110 in this condition but for now I settle with a 112. Cleaned up absolutely mint-only mark is slight depression in scale from sheath snap(no sheath, box or papers unfortunately)

:)Right now I'm anticipating my Jaguar Kalinga. Also another anniversary 110 and that fg 111 members only from 2007.

My next new Buck and my next new knife will definately be a 110 or a 110 eco-lite in green. Which one to buy (first) is the dilemma.:D

Either one would be a great knife, but is it sacrilegious to buy an eco-lite as ones first 110?

Just my opinion, but I'd say yes it is. You can get a "real" 110 for the same money. I think that Buck should have added the Ecolites to the BuckLite series instead of gving them the "110" name and number.:(

thats one of those things that makes you go hmmmm;) IMHO any Buck is a good 1st or next knife, though I think I'd get the original 1st so you can compare the new to the Standard of All Lockbacks

This is what I'm thinking. My question was somewhat philosophical.

I'd love to pick up another Buck and the 110 is a knife I've always been enamored with, but I have never purchased one. Probably because it isn't black nor is it "tacticool," which were both features I used to look for in a knife when I was younger; however, when comparing my father's old 110 he's had since 1979 and the CRKT m1613sf he picked up in 2004 the difference in wear is astounding and I'm certain the Buck has had a harder life than the CRKT and would have been almost half the price as the CRKT was in 2004. Combine this with the fact that my first knife was a Buck Cadet some 12 years ago, so it is only a matter of time before I return to where I belong.

I went through the tacticool phase and it just ended this year. I have a Benchmade Stryker, an Emerson CQC-7B, Al Mar Nomad, a Strider PT...the list goes on and on. This year I started EDCing my old Bucks (112 and a 110). I also bought a Case Mako and I've been rotating between the three for a the last month and a half. These old lockbacks are every bit as good as the tactical knives at 1/2 the price. Now I can buy even more!

LOL Jerry...I think we all seem to migrate back to the classics as we get older and wiser. And the Buck 110 is THE classic lockback that changed the industry. I can't think of another model that has been as important and so long lived except the stockman pattern. That's another one everyone should have in their collection.

Go onto the Buck website and build a 110 smooth or jigged buffalo, no rivots and a black oxide blade, then you'll have the black taken care of except bolsters.
