Your opinions on the compression lock.

I think that the compression lock is very strong and reliable. That said, out of all my knives, the only lock I have had problems with is the compression lock on a Para-Millie. The lock takes a painful amount of pressure on the tab to close. The lock feels like it has stuck closed and doesn't want to release.

The lock was problematic from new and repeated open and close cycles have failed to resolve the issue. :(

APF, have you tried either contacting Spyderco or rubbing pencil lead into the lock surfaces? My Paramilitary had a sticky lock when new and the pencil lead helped while it was still breaking in.

Nope, I haven't contacted Spyderco yet, Vivi. I thought that I would give it a bit more time to hopefully wear in. Thanks for the suggestion of the pencil trick, I'll give it a try!

i also like the comp lock, it works very well, as good as any and probably equal to the axis, my fav spydie has one (the ti ATR) and i carry it often and have had -0- problems with it.

the 1st ATR i got, a SS one, would open up in your pocket, not a good thing, i talked to sal and he said send it in some of the early ATR's had detent probs, which i did, no more problems and ya could 'feel' the detent a lot more vs the old one.

but anyway the comp lock is a good one, probably about as good as it gets, only thing even close to being as good/better is the axis,
