Your sub 120 do it all EDC

Paramilitary 2, HK Axis 14715 (made by Benchmade)

Ditto to this one. The PM2 is just amazing. Don't worry about the tip. But don't pry up heavy metal man hole covers with any knife you land with. And the HK is a great way to try out a US made Benchmade at a very reasonable price. The Axis lock is cool, and the D2 blade is very tough. Also takes a killer edge. You'll love either one.

Personally I would love to crash them together. If I could throw D2 into the PM2, I'd be very happy. Absolutely love the Spyder compression lock and the crazy smooth PM2 action.

Doh! Just read another post and will throw in the ZT's 0566 & 350. If you look around hard, you may just find a ZT 770cf or 450, which I like even more.

A real "almost do it all edc" would be something like a leatherman charge. I wish more companies would offer premium multitools. L3atherman really did a great job with this one though and even cheap leathermans are worth the money. Just wish there were more flavors to choose from in multitool world. The Charge is.best one ive had and so far so good. I break something on multitools fairly regularly, and I don't think that's happening with this one.

Think there around $100 now.

The BM Grip, Marksman, and PM2 have their reputations for what they are and need no further praise. If i had to choise between the 3 i'd take the grip...

A few other options worth looking at; if You really like your zing, at the same price point, the Kershaw Scrambler is designed by the same designer, RJ Martin, about an ounce and a half heavier, but more blade, more handle, more robust, and a framelock instead of a liner.

Kizer ki404 gives you a lot of knife for the price also.

Lionsteel Daghetta; in CF scales is super light for the size, and locks similar to BM's axis.

Fox knives Forsa is a lockback at under 3oz in 154cm, with a "robust" spine at 0.13" thick.
(Made in the USA)

One more low cost option is the Kershaw Emerson cqc-6k

Happy hunting, whatever you decide, hope it serves youwl well in service.

I rotate between 4 knives for edc as of right now. A delica, code 4, case sodbuster Jr, and a sak electrician. All fit your price range and all have my recommendation.

SAK Trekker, one hand opening.

Also consider a pocket fixed blade. Talk about robust and no cleaning.

Ttt for the guys recommending the pm2 I'm nervous of the tip breaking due to small stuff like dropping the knife

Manix 2, baby! It's one hell of a work knife. S30V is a great all around performer, and the G10 handles provide plenty of grip.

If you can up your budget by $25 you can get a ZT 0566 with Elmax blade. Elmax is very corrosion resistant and extremely tough. The 0566 is a nice just right size in terms of length and thickness. Since you're a Marine you might also consider the Benchmade 551 H20 Griptilian with even more corrosion resistant N680 steel or Spyderco's Salt series knives with literally rust proof H1 steel.

Wrong person quoted.

Griptilian. Ive carried this knife since I was about 17, I got it in place of a High School Class Ring. I'm nearing 22 now and this blade has never let me down. My only regret is not getting a plain blade. What was I thinking with those Shark Bites? The pic is from about April, the knife is a little more worn now.

Send it in to benchmade, for a very reasonable fee they will replace the blade with a plain edge. I've heard the turn around is quick.

Really?! And here I had figured only Buck did that. I will have to send my knife to BM Post-Haste for a Satin plain blade! Thanks for the Info Basp!

My partner and I were unpacking a display BBQ, he used my knife to cut a zip tie and it slipped and the tip hit the inside of the grill (304 stainless), well there was no scratch on the grill, but the tip of my pm2 did break off. It was less than a millimeter but it did break. To fix it I held the knife upside down in the channel of my brown sharp maker rod and sanded it down a tiny bit. It's plenty sharp and pointy now and resembles a Delica tip a little more, but I don't really trust the pm2 for heavy tasks. I would say it's my insingo, but that's a $450 knife. So I'll say my go to sub $120 EDC knife is my recon 1. It's big but it's light, comfortable, and so very sturdy!

Ontario RAT 1?
Buck 110? (belt carry, you won't notice the weight) This one also has a history of use in unfriendly areas. It was quite popular in Viet Nam and later.

Fixed blades:
Ontario 499 "Jet Pilot Survival Knife"
Ontario 498 Combat knife. (identical to the Ka-Bar, but made to mil spec; unlike the current Ka-Bar knives.)

All of these are under $50 each.

The Charge TTI goes for $160-170 now. Even the Wave is $90

Paramilitary 2, Manix 2 lightweight (S110V preferably, but BD1 does ok too), or Native 5 FRN

Griptilian all the way. You've got tons of options, and can pick and choose what you'd like. Also leaves you open to future upgrades to the same knife (think scales).
You can pick up plain 154CM grips online, or grab a D2 grip from Cabela's for like $110, and there's always the new G10 grip, but I think that's over $120.
I've got 2 grips, and the one that's been through the most has even been shot, and spent time in a LE and fire/ems role...
