I like the Spyderco Chinook I. It's a very strong knife with a heavy thunking lockback and solid construction. Lock failure would take hundreds of pounds of pressure so it feels safe when in use. The Chinook II is similar, but doesn't have the same 'character' to me, anyway.
From Benchmade I like the 705 and the larger 805. Once again they have G10 scales for grip and a strong construction with Axis locks. I rate these too, but not quite as highly as the Chinook. If you were concerned about weight and ease of carry, however, I'd pick the 705 out of the three.
If you could find one second hand, to meet your budget, the Sebenza is a good carry. But there are so many good knives it's sometimes hard to focus
