I’m gonna say they need to be the top 5 that you currently own. Because if you don’t own it you either haven’t had a chance to purchase it yet (this is my issue) or you sold it and replaced it with something else you thought was better for the task.

So top 5 I own.

5 UF / UF2. While it’s NOT the goddamn Shiv, if I ever had to fight with a knife. This would be it.

4 BFK / FK3. Think this is the perfect camping knife for me size wise if I could only take one. Ive batonned up to 3” pieces of oak with mine. I’ll take it bigger next time. It is also great for food prep.

3 DEK 1 I’ve skinned at least 9 deer with mine so far. This will be the last deer hunting knife I’ll ever buy.

2 SHIV. Because “ It’s the goddamn Shiv!” Per Nate. I took a break from BF and came back around 2021. So I missed a lot of the first CPK’s. I had never put it together until recently when yoko yoko explained the CPK logo knife to me. Just fyi. You can’t really be a member of the CPK clan unless you own one.🤷 😎

1 SDFK is Glorious. It’s right in the name. If for some reason I could only keep one knife for the rest of my life. The SDFK would cover everything and I’d be perfectly satisfied.


Of course still got an edc mc and 4 choppers and 2 Fat Bastards still incoming. As someone previously suggested we are going to need bigger lists.😎

1. EDC 1.2 ... (has slightly edged out the EDC 2) but some variation of the EDC has been on my hip about 95% of the days since I got my first many moons ago. It's a workhorse that you can actually carry everywhere easily.

2. HDFK ... it's simply big knife perfection.

3. Medium Chopper ... when you need a little more than a big knife.

4. DEK 1 ... we all know Lorien too well now ... but a damn fine knife.

5. DEK 3 ... a tribute to Roland's luv of the 3 ... it cuts ok too and will have to hold down kitchen duties until the return of the Tator Knife. (it could be labeled the "new potato" knife?

I can't list the Skinner or Tator Knife ... yet ... I'm waiting on the reintroduction of both!

My first awareness of Carothers knives came in early 2016 when I clicked on one of Nathan’s ads for the “Kitchen Utility Vegetable Knife” which is more commonly referred to now as the Potato Annihilator or Potato Knife. I was interested because my favorite, and most used, kitchen knives fall in the the 6” to 6-1/2” size range. Of course the knives were already sold out by the time I saw the ad. I watched for another opportunity to buy one, but that wasn’t meant to be back then.

Fast forward to last week when I found one posted in the BS&T thread here. I decided to buy it as a gift for...

I traded it for a Boot Knife about a year after that thread was originally posted.

That is a practical list that I can relate to. Well chosen Cwilliams563 Cwilliams563 ! 🏆

My list would be very similar. I went with Light Chopper option in the recent Pre-Order. I would also have to find a slot for the Boot Knife in the mix.

1. DEK1 hollow with hollow swedge, this is my favorite not just because the grinds are amazing but because I won the Friday sale for it.

2. UF2 hollow, this feels the best in the hand, amazingly light and balanced.

3. Shiv 2.0 with extra long false edge, who doesn't love a Shiv?

4. Boot knife, two hollow grinds are better than one.

5. K20, only reason this is in the bottom is because it's not finished.

I figured I’d start with 5 as I’m sure there are quite a few members that don’t own 5. Plus I don’t have 10 CPKs 😢 lol. By all means start another list! Top 10, top 20, hell I’m sure a few members could do top 50+ 🤣

I am going to put down 6 in no particular order, 6 because one technically is not a CPK and not in order because it's not fair to narrow them down that much, they are all great in their own right.
