By toughest I mean the one folding knife of all that you own (under $100), that you've beaten the hell out of and is still considered a strong knife.

Pictures of it would be great too! But not a requirement [emoji12]

EDIT: by "beat" I just mean one that's been used a whole lot with a combination of easy and tougher tasks.

I don't "beat" on folding knives. For that I use a fixed blade or another tool more suited to "beating" on.

I got an Esee 5 on the exchange for $100 exactly. My go to do it all around the house and property knife is a SOG Seal Knife. That has seen a lot of thrashing from prying, ice pick, chopper, digging, to plain old knife.

Oh, "okay". I "understand". Nice picture of your "fixed" knife though I like "it"!!

Cold Steel Recon 1, Ultimate Hunter and American Lawman, all under $100. Also my HK14715 and Manix 2

I would have to say my Kershaw Cryo.
That makes me happy because I have the Cryo also but have hardly EDC'd it due to fear of the torsion bar breaking on me :( but I do love everything else about that knife. May have to really give it a chance now

I posted this in another thread, but without a picture.

I use a CS Rajah as a small machete whenever I do yard work. It will cut through 2 - 3" branches of dried wood without a problem.
The edge doesn't roll and I've only touched up the edge on a ceramic rod.
This was taken when it was new, but it doesn't look much different after a few years of use.

I also typically use fixed blades for any "hard use," but my toughest folder that I don't worry about beating on at all is the humble Svörd Peasant. I think $100 would buy 6 or 7 of them lol. 15n20, high nickel content, tough stuff. Older pic:

I don't really know.
What I can say, is that my BM Grip was just under $100 about 10 yrs ago when i bought it, and it was my only pocket knife for about 7-8 yrs, and saw daily use and carry. I don't think it was really abused, but every task that could be asked of a pocket knife, fell to that one, since there was no "rotation" to speak of to distribute the work load.
It took it all like a champ, and 10 years later it's beat up and shows the use, but function is 100% of what it was when the knife was new.

Care to answer your own question? With a picture of course!

And again, I don't recommend anyone beat on a folder but here are some under $100 I consider tough:

Outdoor Edge something or other with orange FRN handles. It's some sort of hunters knife that they discontinued. I've beat the crap out of it, one handle scale is starting to come off, the rubber handles are showing noticeable wear, but it keeps on going for five years strong.

My CRKT M16-14SFG
Tough as nails through way more abuse than any folding knife deserves. With the greatest serrations to ever grace the surface of a knife blade.

Sent via telegraph with the same fingers I use to sip whiskey.

7 years old Cold Steel Recon 1. One of the first CS model that has no liners. It's been abused, batoned, thrown on concrete floor repeatedly, ran over by car, stabbed into ground and everything in between.
Still alive and kicking, and the lockup is still the same as the day i got it, only with a small amount of up and down blade play.
This is the aus8a model, i got it for about $60. The new CTS XHP model is about $83 new.

Nice group Cray, Most of my BMs were used for work as a maintenance mechanic/fabricator/millwright/tradesman, I use all my tools to do the jobs I got them for and I gotta agree with Cray, I don't beat on abuse my tools unless that's what they were designed for. If my Old Man had ever seen me put a tool back lookin' like that recon 1he' woulda slapped the heck outta me.

I have many knives that have seen many long years of heavy use and none of them look like that, that's tool abuse and I guarantee you'll never borrow a knife I own.

You think that's typical knife use? I have no safe queens, my customs all get carried and used, Sebenzas get used and look like it without looking neglected or abused, You should use a pointy stick and a knapped piece of obsidian it's cheaper and renewable.

What is your go to, beat with a hammer through a car door knife that you try to stick into trees, sheetrock walls and concrete? Show me yours and
I'll show you mine.

My Opinel is as tough a knife as I've ever needed:
