So it has been at least a year I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

I have it under control with pills. It took a little bit to get the right meds . Depending on what I eat,the meds play hell with me. My son decided he was a vegan, and my wife just wants to keep trim as possible . Combine all that up and Vince dropped weight.

So the other day we're out and my wife's friend tells me my pants look baggy in the butt. So my wife comes home the other day with a style of jeans that never fit me right. So you guys always hear me talk about the Wrangler carpenter jeans I wear and how the watch pocket fits a freaking backpocket up to 4-5/8" right ? . Well these new wranglers, the regular size, I go to put a 3.5" Dowell Zulu in the watch pocket and dam if it does not feel like I could lose it in a NY minute.

Sidebar >> A ways back I had a freaking pain in my right leg,I follow through with Doc & physical therapy. Turns out its the s nerve ( not gonna try to spell it ;) ,so upon advice I change wallets from rear right hip Filson leather packer wallet ( for years), to a front pocket credit card size wallet.

So now,I have the new style jeans on,different wallet, and guess what ? 4.5" knife rides straight up n down next to the wallet in my right front pocket.

Times are changing, styles change, and it seems like, for the better. Chime in if you'd like ,be good,-Vince

PS and I always do this... Previously to the new style jeans,4.5" knives were preferred in cargo shorts ( to me) ,with that knife pocket on the side, and sub 4.5 was great in those carpenter jeans watch pocket

PS again, lol If ever I have to wear a suit,I'm so outta my realm,I feel kinda caged,I do not even carry a knife. Feel bad for some knife nuts who are restricted in ways

Durn, Vince. Next thing ya know, you'll be wearing skinny jeans and drinking cappuccino with frothy junk on top! Lol

I swear, that's exactly what I said to myself this morning. I was gonna go on Facebook on my wife's friends timeline and say something kinda liked that. But I figured they'd all think I lost my mind, lol. I have been trying like anything to hang on to it

Yup. I'm not diabetic, butt (sic) I have the same problem. I used Kirkland jeans that had made the watch pocket into a cellphone pocket that accepted my GEC #23! Unfortunately, my Lee jeans don't have that feature. Thanks for the tip!

You need a hipster front pocket wallet like me HAHAHA:o

Oh yeah, another thing, I get my belts from this place called bullhide belts. I put the 1.5" through the new style wranglers and I'll be,it's tight ! Dam skinny jeans,so I have more accessories coming for the newfangled style. ( same belt in not as wide)

I switched over from Duluth Trading Co. jeans, which have a really big watch pocket, to Levi's 550 jeans, which fit me better but have a smaller watch pocket. So where I used to be able to carry a pretty good sized pocket knife in that pocket, I am limited to things like a Case Peanut or thereabouts.

I wear Levi's 527s, and all of the pockets are ridiculously tiny. I carry a peanut and Maratac AAA in my watch pocket, and there's no room for anything else. It actually pokes out enough to close off access to my RFP, which is kind of nice in that it prevents my sheathed GEC 14 from slipping out. It's annoying in that it is impossible to get your hand in your pocket while seated, though.

My Carhartt Rip Stop Cargo Work Pants, though, are a knife knuts dream. The top of the RFP is reinforced to prevent your clipped knives from wearing a hole in the material, the watch pocket is generously sized, and the cargo pockets are big enough to fit whatever you'd like.

I've been wearing 5.11 Jean-cut pants the past year, got about 4 pairs. There are two small pockets on the upper thigh, separate to the main pockets . I drop a folder in one, one in the other, works like a charm! :) :D

I wear regular wrangler or rustler 30/30s. But since being introduced to the peanut, ive stopped purchasing the rustlers as they dont have a watch pocket.

HeySVTFreak! I drink lattes regularly, you havent lived until youve sat down with a cigar/pipe/ cigarrette/ ecig and a latte. Not the most manly drink ill admit though:cheerful:

Jack I just looked at these on line. They look great, but I am afraid,if I were to show up in those,in certain circles,I'd make some friends very, very nervous. ;)

LOL! I think they do the replacement 'Ridgeline' pants in a 'blue denim' colour Vince! :D 5.11 also do some in canvas. Mine are dark grey and forest green. I originally bought them for the watch pocket, but that's too small. The front pockets are great though, and there are two small pockets on the rear, designed for AR mags, which allow you to carry a belt-mounted FB very discreetly (ie with the sheath inside the pocket)

Traditional knives, traditional jeans, the originals, Levi 501s for both me and the wife. Never had a cappachino, wouldn't know one if I saw one. Do do the front pocket wallet deal. Thats been cowboy for many a year. Wallets tend to find they way out of a back pocket when you're chasing some bovine down some steep mountain. We call em card wallets and if ya do have some back pain highly recommed giving that front pocket carry a try.

I switched to a front pocket wallet years ago. When I was traveling the world as a single young man, I did that to help minimize the chance of being pick pocketed out of the back pocket. When in shady places, I still carried a "dummy" in my back pocket. It got ganked once. The habit stuck and I still do. Originally, it was a leather sleeve with my cards and cash on the outside held by a binder clip. Now I use an ainste wallet. The rubber band keeps it from sliding out. I'll never go back to back pocket wallets.

You just fold the cash and slide it under the band. Works like a charm unless you're carrying lots of it.

As far as jeans, I stick with Levi's also. I really could care less within reason as long as they comfy, but my wife likes my butt in them haha. Usually 527's for me I think is the ones.

I just picked up a nice pair of carpenter pants with a watch pocket that goes the full depth of the pocket. I can fit a 6.65" long bark river mini fox river fixed blade with pocket sheath in there. I will have to look for what brand they are when I get home, can't remember off the top of my head. I was so excited about the deep pocket!

Vince, congratulations on getting things under control. It was a about a year and a half ago that I, too, was diagnosed with Type-2. I know exactly what you're talking about, clothes wise. My jean size is now 28 after losing almost a third of my body weight. I haven't worn a 28 since I was a kid! I have the same problem with larger traditional knives in my watch pocket. I find a belt sheath/pouch is the most convenient for me.

In the winter, I wear Carhartt duck overalls most days when I'm working. I love them. No belt, comfortable as all get out. Many deep pockets. I usually have a modern clipped to the right leg pocket and a traditional in the left.

My favorite jeans, though, have a terrible watch pocket. I wind up doing the same front pocket next to the wallet thing.
