Your trad EDC & your clothes

PS again, lol If ever I have to wear a suit,I'm so outta my realm,I feel kinda caged,I do not even carry a knife. Feel bad for some knife nuts who are restricted in ways

Congrats on getting the condition under control! I have to agree with your comment on suits. I wear a suit under duress! My wife made me buy a new suit a couple years ago, only because my other one was 15 years old! Can you imagine that? I wore that suit 7 and 1/2 times.

Anyway I went along and now I have a new suit that has most of the pockets sewn shut! What the ---- is that?

I used to carry a Case peanut in any kind if dressy clothes. Now I have my GEC 92 talon, which I like to think works? What do I know?

Just like my grandfather did ( total coincidence BTW ) I wear Dickie's almost exclusively ( at least in the winter anyways ) but my favorite jeans were a pair of boot cut Levi's signature series, one thing I absolutely can't stand is skinny jeans. If I was right handed I'd care more about the watch pocket, but it's hard enough finding pants that fit my skinny ass let alone pants with a left handed watch pocket.

I wear Levi's 527s, and all of the pockets are ridiculously tiny. I carry a peanut and Maratac AAA in my watch pocket, and there's no room for anything else. It actually pokes out enough to close off access to my RFP, which is kind of nice in that it prevents my sheathed GEC 14 from slipping out. It's annoying in that it is impossible to get your hand in your pocket while seated, though.

My Carhartt Rip Stop Cargo Work Pants, though, are a knife knuts dream. The top of the RFP is reinforced to prevent your clipped knives from wearing a hole in the material, the watch pocket is generously sized, and the cargo pockets are big enough to fit whatever you'd like.
I'm surprised that so many folks have been praising their Wrangler Carpenter Pants watch pockets. I really like wearing carpenter pants now that I carry several knives each day, especially for the leg pocket that comfortably carries my "Big Knife of the Week" (usually ≥4"). But my Wrangler version does NOT have a watch pocket that I enjoy. Similar to what Shawn noted, when I have a couple of small knives tucked into a whittling thumb guard in the watch pocket, I have trouble getting my hand into, or my keys out of, my RFP. Part of the problem seems to be the positioning of the pocket; it seems to be centered right on the point of my hip bone, so there's no "give" behind it. I have a pair of Falls Creek brand (from meijer, sort of a local Walmart) carpenter jeans that I like WAY more than the Wranglers; I can stick my fist into the watch pocket of those babies! (OTOH, my "regular" Wrangler jeans - maybe relaxed fit, straight leg - are a different story: the watch pocket is GREAT, but no side-of-leg pocket, and the back pockets are not as capacious as in carpenter pants.)

I have a question about the front pocket wallets so many are recommending. How much can they hold? My wallet currently has some cash, a driver's license, a library card, and ID card for work, several health insurance cards (medical, dental, eye care, pharmacy), a personal VISA card, a corporate credit card, at least 3 "store" cards (Barnes&Noble, Kohl's, and grocery store), about 6 family pictures of various vintages, voter registration card membership cards for at least 3 professional organizations, a little credit card size magnifier, and then some random crap like unfiled receipts, a list of all of the books written by a half-dozen of my favorite authors, a slip with the combination of the safe at church. Will all that fit in a front pocket wallet? Can I strop on the outside of a front pocket wallet?

Just for the sake of a photo, here's my "secondary" back pocket wallet:

I just picked up a nice pair of carpenter pants with a watch pocket that goes the full depth of the pocket. I can fit a 6.65" long bark river mini fox river fixed blade with pocket sheath in there. I will have to look for what brand they are when I get home, can't remember off the top of my head. I was so excited about the deep pocket!

So I dug them out and they're Timberland Pro brand. Mine are shorts actually but they do sell them as pants too.

Here I turned it inside out as best I could and you can see just how deep that pocket is. They came stitched about halfway up to make it a normal sized coin pocket but I pulled the stitches to open it up. I like that they give you the option.

GT I just pulled mine out and counted. I have 8 different plasticised cards: DL, insurance, credit, debit etc. I also have about 10 business cards. It has a pocket on front too for cash, (thats that green stuff I think, don't remeber) but a guy could put more cards there if he wanted. When I carry my trapper in my buckaroo pouch I just drop it in the same pocket. Everything gets along fine.

I've been wearing 5.11 Jean-cut pants the past year, got about 4 pairs. There are two small pockets on the upper thigh, separate to the main pockets . I drop a folder in one, one in the other, works like a charm! :) :D
Room for 2 AR mags and Teflon coating to boot. Damn!

GT, you'll need two front pocket wallets ;) Mine will carry about 10 cards in two inside and two outside slips and a money clip inside.

I wear Wrangler Classic in dark blue denim lately, tag says 39902PW. Has a wide and deep watch pocket that I use for a cigar lighter cause I use a belt sheath with jeans mostly.

I wear jeans, but I can't stand them. Lately it has been the Texas Jack in the front pocket of my Haggar slacks or khakis.

Dave is that in one of those card wallet things you make or is it a proper full sized wallet ?
I downsized my wallet about two years ago and went really minimalist , the best thing I ever did in my opinion .
For years I was one of those guys with a wallet that was as fat as it was square , with old receipts and dubious business cards poking out of it at all angles , never again .
Small is good .

I was in danger of getting the diabetes. My granddaddy died of diabetes, I never had a chance to meet him. A shame. Anyway I know there is chance that it runs in my family.

My sugar levels were going up. Last autumn they were the highest they have been so I decided to do something about it. I changed my diet to more wegetables, less meat. I hired a personal trainer and he made a program that I do as well as I can and have time.

Just yesterday I had controll. My sugar is down to a level that I still need to work on, but much safer. My cholesterol is down, it still needs to go a bit but the worst kinds of cholesterols are much lower now. Main thing is that I know I am stronger than I have ever been. I am not lean and fit but I pump iron like I have never done before. I walk long distances with my wife. I am generally much happier man.

And I carry my knives also with a key case or wallet in my front pocket and they stay upright without any problems :) For some reason the Laquoiles carry better than other knives, I wonder why.

One, I'm wondering if Wrangler makes multiple styles of carpenter jeans. The ones I have are Wrangler ________, I just don't remember what the ________ is but they fit loose and I've never had trouble getting past the watch pocket.

As for wallets, I just carry a normal waller in my front left pocket. I picked up one of those aluminum wallets that were all over the tv since they block RFID and cost about $4. Only bad thing is I can't put a knife in the same pocket or they "argue".

Ken yeah its one of the ones Nichole makes. Everybody in our circle has one now and no one has gone back to the regular wallet. Best thing since slice bread. And because it is leather and small to start with its not banging around on a knife if you carry one in the same pocket.

GT, I went fairly minimalist with my slim wallet. I have 5 plasticized cards, one paper card, a P38, a Craftsman 4-way, and a spare Eneloop AAA in my wallet. If I took out the P38 and 4-Way, I could probably squeeze 10-12 cards into the wallet, but there's no way to fit your wallet load into the type of wallet I have. The elastic strap on the back is for cash, but it's also where I stash my spare battery. I don't actually wear it in my front pocket, though. It's either in my back left pocket or left cargo pocket. My front pockets are too small/full to fit the wallet comfortably.

Anyway I went along and now I have a new suit that has most of the pockets sewn shut! What the ---- is that?

I'm pretty sure that the factory sews suit pockets shut so that they keep their shape better while in inventory. Those stitches should be removed, either by your tailor (if you go that way) or yourself (or spouse if you don't do that kind of thing).

For me, workday dress is usually Dockers. I work in an office and rarely need a knife on me, so whatever I'm carrying sits on the desk near the coffee mug. On my own time, it's mostly Lees jeans for me. Watch pocket is of a decent size and holds my 77 easily, which is one of my larger traditionals.

Great thread (no pun intended!). I'm enjoying reading about everyone's sartorial tendencies.

A sharp pocket knife will fix that right up :D

Funny story... my littleBro got married last summer after 54 years of batching it. I was his best man. We wore suits not tuxs, and his was new. Got to the church and I noticed his jacket's back flap was stitched up. Only knife I had was a good sized Helle Eggen fixed blade in the car. I pulled it out and started cutting. His future bro-in law wandered over, wondering what the heck I was doing crouched over my bro's kiester knife in hand (and well he should have been wondering). So I finished up, when the bro-in law said his jacket flap was the same, thought it was supposed to be that way. So out comes the Helle. This time I had him take the jacket off:cool:

Congrats to you guys who have took control of your diabetes BTW

I know. I was making a poor attempt at humor there. Thanks though.
