for me it would have to be these.

the 15 is generally my favorite pattern and i had the project in mind ages ago. originally the blades were swapped, but i had the clip put on the cocobolo after accepting ill probably not get the smooth bone 15 barlow from 2021 for the project due to the current circumstances of the hobby. (i refuse to pay off scalpers or deal with trade extorters) Even tho I knew there were gonna be taxes from being on evil bay, i went through with it cause i got tired of waiting. I can stick either of these in my pocket without a care in the world about losing them. Generally its the spear that appears in my pictures when im out and about despite its flaws. (the original modder screwed up some how and the spring is sunk in, and I seemed to have dropped it at some point so there are marks on the end cap) the clip however has a slightly lighter pull then i like on my 15s but that was an inherent flaw of that years run. these days, i can pack em all away and just enjoy either of them nice and simple. But to the original question if it is just the one, itll be the spear cause I carry that most of the time.

I bought three small lockbacks this year. Each one is very special to me in its own way, but the challenge here, of course, is which one is my Knife of the Year? After much deliberation I've decided it has to be this one: Buck 501 found at the local knife shop last August. Why is it so special? 1978-80 date of manufacture, burgundy linen micarta covers, stainless steel integral liners and bolsters, 440C steel blade, and Old English script tang stamp. A true classic and a great carry knife.

I acquired more knives and KOTY candidates this year than any other I can think of, and it's quite a tough choice.
I bought or was kindly gifted a total of 9 excellent knives this year and it's quite a tough choice.

The grey bone Case Barlow was quite the project and a real transformation, plus I've carried it quite a bit.
I acquired 3 different Buck 305's for my collection and all are amazing, but I believe an '89 305 in Sambar was my last KOTY so I should probably pick something else.
Then there's the gorgeous Buck 505 in elk stag I bought from the custom shop, my first CKS order and a knife I quite love.

This Moki Bird & trout 2.0 was the most I've spent on a knife to date, and seems to have stood out the most out of every knife I've acquired this year.
I've probably carried it the most too, so it's probably going to be my pick.

I've managed to acquire several nice knives this year.

Although the last two digits of the model number of this #72 is "23", I didn't acquire it until this year.

Another #72

Of course being a sucker for the Sowbelly pattern, I had these two come in this year.

BUT -- My KOTY for 2024 that I acquired in September is this Case CV 6375 Amber Peach Seed jigged bone large Stockman

This has been a net divestiture year for knives, but I have received some very gracious gifts from porch members. These three really stand out for me:

Of those, choosing one KOTY is very difficult. But if I use the frequency of carry as the basis of the decision, this one receives KOTY accolades, if even only by a hair:

Nice, those pinched ends added alot to the look.

I'm going with my Russlock. I carry it as my main blade due to the liner lock and it is carried majority of the time.
Nice pic of it too :)

I have bought a few knives this year and these are probably my most Favorite .

XGFq1T3.jpg

I have carried each one a FEW times .
And this Puukko was used a lot after I got it .
BIkssOw.jpg

BUT neither can be considered my KOTY because most days I carried any 1 or 2 of 3 other knives and I have had all 3 of them before this year .
Sorry Jack but no KOTY this year .

No worries Harry, had a few years like that myself :) Some great-looking cutlery there my friend

When I think of a good pick-up this year, the Waynorth comes to mind. When I look at this knife it reminds me of a classic knife I have seen here on BF and I think, I would love to have that knife in my collection. And now I do.

But the 2024 knife for me is the Beaver Tail wood knife. The knife is basic. But it is almost comforting and warm in the pocket. It is subtle, not ostentatious. It's a worker and reminds me of a knife I had seen my dad use.

Whichever, can't go awry with either Charlie's knife or the small Beaver wood knife. They are both real nice.

I've picked up a few traditional knives this year. None come close to this glennbad glennbad modded Mitchell that I was lucky enough to win in his very generous giveaway.
My knife of the year....

Interesting choice

That I've acquired, carried, and used most this year ... (all acquired post 05-30-24)
USA Old Timer 8OT ... 27 daze
WESTERN 742 Stockman ... 28 daze
Western 062 (2 blade) Folding Hunter ... 33 daze (and counting; part of my current carry.)
Case 10375SS Stockman ... 23 daze
Case 6375CV Stockman ... 32 daze (and counting; part of my current carry.)
(EDIT: Re-checked my carry log. Correct totals shown)

Neck & Neck tween
IMG_20240831_143457.jpg
and
IMG_20240906_105052.jpg
Since I R "comfortable" with these two for my carry, I will go ahead and name the (actually pocket worn before I got it) Case 6375CV Western 062 Folding Hunter the "winner by an hair" ...

Edit: "Thinking" on it, the Western 062 "Wins". In addition to most carry time in less time, It got me back into the habit of a large folder on my belt.
When my pocket carry is carbon steel, the Western 062 Folding Hunter will likely be my belt carry.

For some strange/odd/unreasonable(?)/unknown reason, I've neglected my Stainless knives, preferring to carry good 'ol carbon steel.
(I dunno if that cost the Case 10375SS I won in a GAW the title.)

Of course the knife carried most (over 200 days and counting in 2024), a VIC Huntsman is disqualified, cuz I got it mid 2023.
