Your unusual EDC items?

We’ve all heard of dumping folders, multitools, and lights in our pockets, but do you carry any unusual EDC items? I’m thinking of adding some needle and thread to my gear and maybe some electrical tape in case of some minor repairs. I’ll try to think of some more.

Have fun with this thread. :D

Currently I have a surgical mask folded up in my back pocket together with a printout of my vaccination certificate. Perhaps not so unusual at present but relative to history they're not all that usual. :) I also carry a small prayer book in the same back pocket. I carry a pocket watch, that's pretty unusual these days.

True, five years ago, I never would have considered packing two masks (it’s good to carry a spare) in my pockets. Tactical pants are really nice for EDC.

Haven’t carried a prayer book, but I sometimes carry a compact paracord Rosary bracelet or a steel Rosary ring. Full-sized would get tangled up in the pockets, lol.

Interesting bit, I believe the small pocket within the right front pocket of most denim pants was for pocket watches.

A 1/4"×24" nylon tape folded up and slid inside a section of clear straw.
Until recently I used a regular 24" retractable steel keychain tape, but while it's good for keychain carry which I don't do it's bulky for a pocket organizer especially the new yellow birch pockit pico.
It's less convenient to use but I just don't use it quite often enough to justify much bulk.

Klein non-contact voltage tester. Stock photo below.

I'm the "fix-it" guy in the office. Even though I keep a non-contact voltage tester in my desk as a backup, I have gotten in the habit of carrying one in my front shirt pocket too. I tend to wear a pocket protector (cuz I'm cool  ) and I just keep one there along with my pens, markers, and pen flashlight. Most folks just think it's a marker.

Nerds of the world unite!

Cool topic  :).

I made this little rubber doohickey so my 1 AA flashlight wouldn't roll around. It also allows me to set the light at various angles depending on where on the light I position it or on which edge I place the doohickey.

It didn't occur to me, but I guess these are a bit unusual for EDC. And although not "pocket carry", the manner in which I carry them is unusual. I don't imagine there are a lot of people doing "boot carry".

First pic, adjustable pliers and a Wiha micro bit driver (bits inside the driver).

Second pic, stubby adjustable wrench (and a flashlight, not so unusual).

It certainly is unusual to carry those items mounted to your boots.

Care to elaborate as to why you carry them in this manner ?

There are certain things I like to always have on me, and carrying them mounted to my boots is the easiest way. I don't like having a lot of stuff on my belt or in my pockets, nor do I want to carry or wear any kind of pouch.

Everything I carry gets used, and has gotten me out of a jam at one time or other. My pant legs cover everything, so nobody can see what I'm carrying.

What you can't see in those pics, and what I didn't mention (because it's not unusual) is the Leatherman P4 in a pouch (pic below). That's come in handy too.

As you can see from the pics the boot uppers are rigid, so they do a good job of supporting the weight of the items. I've been carrying items like this for decades on several pairs of boots (hence the wear and fading of the Leatherman pouch and pliers holder).

Creative! Although don’t the pliers look a tad uncomfortable?
