your worst\best knife experience

Best: Slashing the tires of someone I didn't like.

Worst: My dad insulting me and complaining all the time because I don't put the silverware knives up according to his complex and obscure system, he smokes weed a lot and is a nitpicking micromanager type. I hate him.

Best experience: Buying an ESEE Izula, which came razor sharp.

Worst experience: cutting myself with it about 5 minutes after opening it.

Runner up best: buying my first benchmade, a mini D2 griptilian.

Runner up worst: having a dull blade on a brand new from the factory mini D2 griptilian, even after sending it back to benchmade for an entire blade replacement, and lifesharp sharpening. Needless to say, the knife will be sold.

Not feeding the troll.

Another best: Getting my M4 Rift and it being my perfect knife.

Best: When I found a NIB Spyderco Military black blade for $70 on ebay.
Worst: Having an old Gerber frame lock close while it was in use:barf:

I'm not sure admiting to vandalism, and claiming it as your best knife moment, is the smartest idea around here.

In these parts slashing the tires on someone's truck is a good way to get your hide full of rock salt if you're lucky, 00 buck shot if you're not.

Crazy kids, what do you expect? Some people have no honor. Saying you "hate" your parents isn't cool either. the new ethics of the 21st century are all screwed up.
I wouldn't be proud of that. You probably cost that person a couple hundred dollars to replace those tires just because you were being a punk.
You should be ashamed, not bragging.
Well said. Gotta have a conscience to feel shame.

Hi tpa -

Best -
Discovering bladeforums -

Worst -
discovering bladeforums was down....:D

Seriously, finding the people here was one of the best experiences - since finding this place I have bought two one-of-a-kind custom JK knives, and I would never have known about the AG Russell Acies if I were not here -

I am not sure what my worst knife experience is - I just don't have any memorable bad knife experiences.

best regards -

The worst: pared my finger down to the bone with my very first knife, an SAK.

The best: I'm very young so I'm sure the best is still to come. As of now, just using 'em hard and having fun.

ditto, I'm not that young, just new to knives, only got my first knife - my benchmade about 3 months ago, and a spydie about a week ago. So that has been good.

So the best would be just having a really nice knife to use, either my BM or spydie.

Worst - regretting spending 215 bucks on a sage 2 ti, I hope I like it when it comes.

James, sounds like you've got some serious problems that need professional help. Maybe you should look in to getting that help.

Worst: Carving a chunk out of my thigh at Boy Scout Camp.

Best: Discovering assisted opening knives.

Oy veh. We got a pretty good thread going, and one response after another has been from real knife knuts, just the kind of people that make this place work.

Except for one. Ya gotta learn to ignore him, instead of turning the whole thread into feeding the troll.

Thanks for the reminder Esav.

Worst: Getting stitches in my finger and having to explain to my girlfriend I cut myself with my new knife

Best: Having that picture of your achilles tendon injury the next time I cut my finger to show her it could have been worse.

Seriously that looked painful hope it healed up well.

Best... I don't know, there have been a lot of good ones. I had a very nice knife day a few weeks ago:

The Queen canoe in that box has become my EDC and the Izula has gone along for the ride the past three days and has been put to the test.

Worst: Without a doubt the worst knife experience I've ever had was buying an SOG Flash II. I hate just about everything about that knife except the blade shape, but that isn't redeeming enough to give that knife a chance.

Worst... Being newly reborn to the hobby I locally bought a Schrade assisted Out the Front knife. Its a complete hunk of crap and I easily paid double for it.

Worst: Within 5 minutes of getting my Victorinox Huntsman, I cut my thumb to the bone, twice. I was maybe 7 years old.

Best: Within 5 minutes of getting my Victorinox Huntsman, I cut my thumb to the bone, twice. I was maybe 7 years old. I learned a whole lot about knife safety that day and the lesson has stayed with me for many years.

Christ on a cracker! Remind me never to handle a Falkniven barefoot, not that shoes would stop that beast.... makes my balisong accidents look like paper cuts.

Best - Buying a BM 42, they are absolutely indestructible, I <3 Titanium

Worst - Buying a KaBar and discovering that KaBar's edges Suck! (buy ESEE)

Here's another best of mine. I used to have a pair of Rusty brand skater pants that had huge pockets. I was able to carry a full sized Ka-Bar in them.

One time my friend and I were in a park and I randomly pulled the Ka-Bar out and said "look at this". He was so shocked, he was like "is that real?!" I answered this question by stabbing it through a nearby plastic trash can. He just seemed in such awe that I was carrying a Ka-Bar, it made me feel good.

I've got a few for each:

Best:
My first success at opening and closing a Microtech Makora II OTF one handed (without gloves)

Flipping a fixed blade around my finger and catching it in the reverse (although I try not to think of the consequences if I were to mess up)

Worst: Seeing a dent on the edge of my Benchmade 610 when it closed far enough to hit a backspacer pin. That sucked, especially for a 260$ MSRP knife.

And while opening my Makora II when it was new, ripped a blister open on my thumb since the switch was really hard to fire.
