Happy Bday to your wife!!

The guy obviously has a following, and he obviously figured out a way to work the system and get free gear. But he acts like HE is the reason these companies can sell knives. Most have been selling knives longer than he was a live and will keep selling them long after he is gone.

His opinions on knives and gear is completely bias to getting the stuff for free... I cant rely on reviews like that. When im looking to buy a new knife the specs and pictures is just about all i need to get a general idea how it will perform. Then it just boils down to how it feels in my hands and how it performs for my uses, and thats not something he can tell me. I have been fortunate to get the oppurtunity to test hundreds of blades, ranging up to over a thousand dollars a piece, some by the best makers on the planet, and i get to talk to the best cutter in the world all the time. Hell we talked for an hour last night. There is not a single thing i can learn from that PM101 guy about using knives. Right here in the snark thread we have several makers with 100 times more knowledge and experience than that guy has. If i have a question id ask here, and feel way more confident i was getting a truly unbiased and knowledgeable answer.

You can learn how to use knives turn a buncha guys into the opposite of fans, and how to become a youtube sensation with knives....lol

Ill be making another drunk guy with knives video before too long. I just dont have much room in the basement anymore now that i work down there and got tools and materials in the way. So id rather wait to get outdoors to do it. Plus id have more stuff to chop up outside than just paper, bottles, and a few sticks LOL

If i could drive id be gone to the woods this weekend. The rain and snow has stopped and the temp is in the high 40s right now instead of 20-30s. Good weather for making a big fire and using some whiskey to stay warm HAHA

Thorny im always happy to hang out with good like minded people brother!! Having someone to cut sh!t up with is something i welcome!!

I think he ran out of cutting media and alcohol sponsors to send him free stuff.

LMAO!!!

More like ran out of room... But please PM me the names of these alcohol sponsors, not the ones that try and talk you out of drinking, but the ones that encourage it and send free booze LOL

I should get that Caldwell today. That needs to be reviewed. Its new and i need to change that :D

Worse come to worse, I bet we could set up a google hangout or Skype, group, for beckerheads and such to chat live on. Imma have to look into setting something up.

Never underestimate the power of a real world review. When I'm looking to buy a new blade, I absolutely need to know how many super thin water bottles it can slice through before I can pull the trigger.

:D

In all seriousness, if you make something and want it reviewed honestly, never underestimate Beckerheads and Pirates. They will give you the straight scoop, whether you like it or not.

Passarounds here on the forums and informal testing at Gatherings are among the smartest things I've ever done as a knifemaker. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you really want to find out how well something works. The only problem is, every time I send something out for a PA, it never comes back... some rascal always decides to keep it for themself and send me money instead. :D

This just made my day!!

This time of year, The Battle of the Bulge is always remembered here in Belgium but this year it's been 70 years and some extra activities were planned.

The Warrior, if I recall correctly, your father(in law?) fought here on the soil of my home country in order to regain and preserve our freedom and that of the West. Could you present him a big thanks from my part for his efforts as well as those of his (fallen) comrades? We really do appreciate it and will not forget...

And there is the difference between you and the companies that cater to these so called reviewers. You know you make a quality piece every time it goes out the door, so it will sell itself. A lot of the hype generating YouTube junkies will give everything they get for free a good review, which is useful if your product is only mediocre.

Well said JT, WW, and Nate. Well said.

I also can't stand unboxing videos.
Who the hell cares and wants to see you open a product and then go on to say how great it is. That's lame.

Show me how you use it.
Tell me what you like and don't like.
Is it comfortable in the hand? Can you use it all day long?
How does it carry? Cofortable or awkward?
Can you trust it to be your only camp, woods tool, or edc?

Use it everyday. Then you can "review" it.
But please....don't unwrap it, look at it, and then tell everyone and their Grandma to go out and buy one.
That's stupid and irresponsible.

Now if i can just get my ass to a gathering we can do a series of videos on a bunch of drunk guys with a whole bunch of knives LOL

 precisely.

Got my Caldwell Bush Model #1 in. Its definitely a 1/4" but feels lighter than i imagined for the thickness and size. And the handle is amazing on it. The contouring on the micarta is great!!

YAY!!

Been doing some shop prep... little bits of progress - identifying order of operations, digging up tools etc. Need to find the bolts for the vise base, for instance. I'm going to add an extra shelf to the underside of the big work table and have all the materials. It will be 3 cuts and require 8 screws (4 long, 4 short). Great! Got the materials, jig saw, hand saw... but no fasteners!

You mean brands like, SCHRADE Knives are not the greatest thing in the entire knife world? WTH? I was about to get rid of all my Becker's and replace them with the Schrade 2014 and 2015 lineup.

Geez, From the reviews I saw, they are just as good if not better than the Ka-bar BK&T's. And are a fraction of the price.

That's the last time I listen to those fake wanna be survival and bushcrafter YouTubers. :D

Haha.............Just don't get how so many people like these Youtube channels.

I have been thinking about that too. Come to the conclusion that people like cheap. There are more people who would rather spend $30 a piece on 10 junk knives than buy one outstanding knife for $300. Thus the popularity of some yayhoo touting the superiority of inferior knives.
