I'm supposed to be going to a "going away party" however I didn't particularly care for them anyway, so I'm spending the day in my pajamas and playing with my new toys and sharpening some knives and planning out a couple ideas I got floating around in my head. I just was granted access to a sewing machine so I am going to be first getting a $10 "grab bag" and see how to sew on the sil-ny stuff... Gonna TRY to make a modified snakeskin for my hammock.

work in the office to work in the warehouse.....

Hope the kid gets better soon WW. Ours are just starting to get better

JT that hat is epic! Tell me you are using your CS shovel while wearing that!

You need one of those total carbon fiber knives that can't be picked up in metal detectors.*

Sometimes the easiest dishes are the tastiest!

Just made some linguine tossed in olive oil, with some sauteed artichoke hearts, some banana peppers, some garlic, some peccarino-romano, and then a balsamic reduction.

I drank 4 beers in an hour and then went to bed until some jackwagon hijacked my chromecast which also turns my tv on for some reason.

I've worked my butt off at the same place for the last 14 years. It's been pretty much a thankless job, with no benefits, and mediocre pay. A new corporation is buying my employer out. My 14 years of service there, is being counted as 14 years of service to the new owners. Therefore, starting at the beginning of the new year, I have 3 weeks paid vacation coming (4 in 2 more years) , health insurance, retirement plan, 401k, sick days, bereavement days, personal days, etc. All my hard work is finally going to pay off.

Pretty sweet dude. I don't think I could have stuck it out that long. I can barely stand the BS where I work and I get full benefits.

Thats awesome news man!

Thanks guys. It's been long overdue, but I'm glad it's gonna happen.

Want to share something with yall as I had originally shared here when I started awhile back. My Dad gave me his childhood knife to clean up for him and get into working order. I did most of the grunt work awhile back but got stuck on replacing the shield. Instead of just making and gluing a shield in place I decided to try something different. I epoxied in place a series of layers of aluminium foil and epoxy to make the shield. I havent heard of anyone else doing this so it was worth a shot. It actually turned out kinda neat, it has almost a silver pearl like look to it while being completely smooth. As you turn it picks up different shades as the layers reflect back. The pics really dont do it justice as it just looks "crinkled" in the pic, but its absolutely smooth. The object of doing this was to get the knife back into working order not as a full restoration cause I wanted it to retain some of its age and the marks it has earned. Anyways, here it is, just a little more work and it'll be ready to go back to him.

And as a side project I picked up this Camillus Electricians knife I found at the flea market. It needed a rescue and the guy ended up trading for it so I was very happy. The blades were in excellent shape but the scales not so much... I think it had lived its entire life in someones tool box bouncing around and hardly ever used to cut, also it was covered in paint and sharpie for some reason. The other side not pictured had some of what I think were initials written on it. After clean up the blades have zero play and it has great walk and talk. I think this might be a fun knife to re-scale one day... It really is a tank though and its been a fun knife to carry! I'd recommend one.

Hope everyones having a good night!

It sure is . . . and well deserved.

Congratulations . . . in this day & time, that's a solid step in the right direction!

Thanks man. One of the guys from the new corp., and the HR lady came to talk to me about it a few days ago. I couldn't believe it.

I'm not sure I'm done sleeping off those beers I had for lunch. Better have some more to be sure.
