You're lost in the woods...

Himalayan Imports 18" AK (a 16.5" WWII would be acceptable too). With or without the chakma and karda, I'd feel confident in the abilities of that blade to pull me through just about anything. It would be a lot of weight to haul around, but well worth it IMO. :)

You can make a big knife perform most smaller tasks, but in most cases it's really hard to make a small knife do "big knife" tasks. For example, you can choke up on a Steel Heart and whittle wood, open a can, make fuzz sticks, or even skin game... but when it comes time to build an improvized shelter or chop firewood, it's hard to make the chips fly with a little blade.

Picking splinters is an important wilderness knife function and all :p, but when you're in a hurry to either protect yourself from the windchill or die of hypothermia, would you rather be plodding along with some "gadgety" wood saw, or making some chips fly with a big honkin' blade? Seriously, SAK's are cool - I have quite a few of them, but I wouldn't choose one as THE one and only wilderness knife. They're just too small to take up the big jobs that an axe/saw/knife combo would normally fill. IMHO, of course.

If I were stuck in the middle of god-knows-where, I'd choose a Busse Battle Mistress. One big, tough, dependable blade. If it has to be a knife I currently own, I'd take my Busse Basic 9... but I'd like to put a fresh edge on it first! :D

I would make sure that my calm disposition is still intact, that my commonsense has not left me and my usual multitool is at my waist pouch and my Himalayan Kukri is still there.

Then I proceed to make the woods my recreation park!! :D

My question is can i bring my sharpmaker :D I think any large 6-10 sturdy knife would do. But something like strider or busse would be best I think.

I don't know if I'd bring a saw ( i know i cant in this situation) because a saw cannot be sharpend. atleast i cant sharpen one, but i can sharpen the heck out of a knife :) Just a thoght

SAK Rucksack...that way I have a knife AND a saw....and since I carry mine in a kydex sheath with a ferro rod attached, I'd have fire too! is that enough cheating for you?

I've used the saw extensively on my Rucksack for nearly 5 years now, and it still doesn't need sharpening, so I wouldn't worry about that too much...

Fehrman Final Judgement,or my Fehrman Last Chance or my Siegle Utility blade.Any one of those three I would feel happy with.

Randall model 14 single finger hilt and boarder patrol handle. This is one awesome knife that you can bet your life on.

As long as it's something I don't have, I guess a light aber would make life pretty interesting in that situation, although splinters still pose a might be a problem... ;)

Seriously though, Airkat apache14... with it's sheath. :D That package gives you EVERYTHING! Is that considered cheating? If it was one I own, my tactical grade Uncle Mofo!

I don't mind being lost in the woods, but having only 1 knife?? What a nightmare.

Of my current blades, my fave for the "only get one knife" scenario is still the Busse Basic 7, but these days a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp is crowding its heels for top spot.

While I realistically line up with many of the maker recommendations so far, for wilderness survival in the woods, it would be interesting to test a custom-made Moran drop-point, full-flat-grind version of the SOG Revolver knife/saw made with a better steel than AUS-6. But IMHO it will take one heckuva good smith to forge both the knife and saw blades for optimum performance.

With the Revolver, you've got both a 4.75" fixed-blade knife and a 4.75" Japanese pull-stroke saw in one unit.
