Youtubers like Jim Skelton?

I've always liked skelton. Especially since everything he does is top notch and he is very articulate. He also seems to be one of the few that always has a reliable amount of videos of knives that very few have seen online. That said, he really doesn't review them much, but more like shows them to you and points out any glaring flaws, like the DOC FU clip. Which, ironically, I''ve never had a problem with. That said, the knives are in the price range in which that there shouldn't be any problems with the knives save personal preference. That Red Bodega he has is something I drool over every time he brings it out. Sadly, I don't have the patience and to set aside that money long enough to get one

I like JDavis even though he doesn't do much anymore. Fairly down to earth guy that doesn't seem to be too overly oppinionaten on things.

XUXU (or whatevery his channel/name is. the guy with the whicker table to present) is a pretty good one

As much of a excessively oppinionated old fart as Nutn is, he seems to be one of the few that actually puts a lot of knives through its paces and won't go overboard with the abuse like spine whacking unless a company (like DPx) makes those claims. My biggest problem with him is that he is so narrow in what he consideres to be a good carry blade, it can get to be a bit annoying at times. But those oppinions generally go in one ear and out the other for those reasons

I just hate how Jim "claims" that every knife he owns, is somehow a one of a kind. Also,he admittedly doesn't use his knives. Basically, their jewelry. But, the worst thing has to be his saying "butt to butt, as everything in life should be". What on earth does that meen? And as far as The Cutlery Lover goes, him getting "blackmailed" on YouTube to talk badly about others just shows his integrity. He's a diluted "collector" of just about everything he views as something that will make people like him! Now, I know people love these guys, why is beyond me,but that being the case, remember, their views are skewed. There are lots of good reviewer's that actually know what their talking about. Rant over.

Whats the story on that? I've never heard him talk badly about anyone.

Jim Skelton's visit to Stan Wilson's shop was the only video of his worth watching. Every other video is Jim praising the knife in his hand, as if it were a marketing video. Rather than telling it like it is, every knife that he "reviews" is basically a glamour video. I'm not even sure if there are any videos showing Jim actually using a knife. If he likes knives as jewelry, that's fine, but calling his videos a review is preposterous.

Cutlery Lover's videos are not for me.
TheApostleP's videos are tolerable.

Personally, I prefer watching overviews like that of Blade HQ and The Edge Observer.

cutlerylover, TheApostleP and Jim Skelton for me, just feel bad after watching Jim Skelton because most often than not I cannot afford the knives.

TheApostleP makes some good stuff, though it is probably routine for him to criticize factory edges. To say that he doesn't pull punches is an understatement. Even with some things he likes, he may roast a design point or material choice.

I like him also, because he's a fellow southpaw, and often addresses issues with knives that relate to that.

I like BushCampingTools on youtube also, he's done some English reviews of knives that prior to that, I had only found Russian language vids of, and knives that you don't see a lot in the states.

My favorite is Carter at XIUXIU1313. I think he's the most level headed, non biased guy. I like his approach, humor and candid nature. Plus he is also a forum member here too..

You certainly can't go wrong with Jim Davis, Cutlerylover or Jim Skelton either. I like em all!

The hard use reviews from Vininull are cool, I don't speak Russian but (moved)pictures often say more than words ;-)

I bought my ZT550 because of this guy! had to get a new scale from G10it of course but the Knife itself is great and after watching Vin I certainly trust the thing!

I watched his review of the Kershaw 801 copperhead, & it was made out to be the most incredible knife in the world. I got one, & it really didn't seem to be lightyears ahead of the regular one, & the copper anodized finish is so sensitive to the slightest scratching. I wound up selling it, got a used mint 801 regular for 120,polished all the hardware, sent it to tisurvival for anodizing. in the end im into a real cool 801 for less than half the copperhead price...

It's easy to pick at YouTube knife personalities, but I appreciate every single one mentioned here because I usually learn something in every video... usually.
Imagine yourself making the video and what people may laugh at or complain about.
Skelton is cool once you get used to his voice and funny noises. And he does carry and use his knives. He just stays in his urban jungle where plastic zip-ties and cardboard boxtrolls are the EDCs prey. I also appreciate that he (Skelton and several others) speak their minds and don't sound like robots, but if you need robots then they're available too.
FutnNancy introduced me to YouTube knife vids in the beginning, but I came to realize that I didn't care for him at all after about a year of hearin his yapper flappin.
And that weak sauce Spydie "collab" he sold for 3-4x the regular price!
Duracoat and Daffy Duck's signature = classic collectors item ;)

Most of the knives he shows off are too expensive for the average joe to buy, and most of the makers are so backed up on orders you aren't likely to get one anyway. He is just a dude who likes to share cool shit he buys on youtube. He does the cool auction where you can get some hard to find knives for the makers price, in conjunction with the makers themselves. That kind of stuff is good for the knife community, especially since the secondary market is the scourge of any hobby imo.

Really sorry to necropost, but I found this thread via google and had to share my love for a youtuber called Stefan Schmalhaus. The man does such an outstanding job reviewing his knives. Elegant, classy, and above average video production. They aren't usually the traditional Spyderco/benchmade flare that you often find in knife reviews. He reviews very European centric knives for boutique companies that would otherwise fly under my radar.

I love Cutlerylover, he has gotten me into hobbies other than knife collecting from his vids. Despite the flack he gets I do enjoy Nutnfancy, though his opinions can be outlandish at times. I also watch and enjoy, The Late Boy Scout, Blade HQ, Cr0cket20 and The ApostleP.
