You've just won the lottery...what's your first knife?

Probably a Microtech Dragonslayer.

a vintage Elephant Toe (big honking slipjoint), preferably a camillus or maybe a case...
oh maybe the swell center version, damn this is harder than i thought:D

Since we're talking lottery winnings, I'll go for broke.

I'd fly to Japan, hire a translator, and go visit Yoshindo Yoshihara. I would humbly ask him to take $100,000 of my money to indulge his imagination for my benefit... perhaps in a dragonfly motif.

Kirby Lambert or Bob Terzuloa would get a call for sure.

I'd also track down a stag handled shotshell puller auto like the one that Johnny used in The Outsiders movie.

I'd go staight to Marfione, lay a pile of cash on his desk and have him make me 10 stainless steel Scarab Executives. The original one, not the current 'improved' design. No inlays, carbon fibre, MOP or any of that BS. Just stainless with hand ground single edge blades.

Since I am a transplanted Nebraska boy, I would like to buy all the Nichols and Richtig fighting knives I could find. I will soon see how far the lottery will stretch.

Kind of embarrasing to say this:
it would probably be either a RAT cutlery RC-3 or RC-4
an izula would also be on the list.
and maybe a spyderco millitary or para-millitary
plus some custom kydex

far as I'm concerned knives are tools, and I woudn't realy feel comfortable using a fancy custom. I might however, consider talking to one of the small custom makers on bushcraft UK or British blades, as they make some very nice but fairly simple bushcrafters that would suit me just fine.

I don't play the lottery but if I came into enough money to be very wealthy I would order the Randall that appealed to me the most.

I would ask Spyderco to make me 2:

1- Black G10 handled Crickets/SE with Military style nested linerlock.
2- Para Militaries/SE with serrations to the very tip with the same lock.

And I would buy a Strider and Sebenza to see what all the fuzz is about(after letting a custom knife maker put Spyderco serrations all over the blades and drill 14mm round holes in place of the thumb studs;))

I'm a simple guy, and use my knives for what they were intended for. That being said, since I live nearby, I'd be on the phone with Sal Glesser up at Spyderco in Golden. I would pay them whatever they wanted for an American-made Spyderco Tenacious in VG10.

I know thats probably about as low onthe totem pole as most of you guys can get, but like I said, I'm simple with simple needs...and I love the absolute heck out of my chinese Tenacious, even with the alphabet steel blade. :D

My first cutlery extravagance would probably be a Randal Model 17 "Astro" knife. Runs around $600-700 on the third party market.

It was originally designed for the Mercury astronauts, and I being interested in both the space program and Randall knives, it was a natural facination of mine. ;)

Probably a Yuna Hard II...Or an XM-18..Or something by Kirby Lambert.
There are just so many that I' d buy, I' d probably place some mass order on custom knives:)

Man, if I just won the lottery, knives would be down on my list after setting up the family and other giving, moving out of this crazy town, and maybe finding myself an "off the grid" living situation.

Then, after converting a large chunk to hard assets, I'd go knife and gun shopping.

I'm pretty sure that I'd get at least a dozen customs...stag and mammoth would abound, as would fancy damascus patterns. I'd be getting some Busses just to see what the fuss is all about...maybe cut through my old car door hinges with it. ha ha.

Then, I'd try to buy my Dad's old knives off of him. You guys should see them. If we were on better terms, I'd take some pictures, but I don't think he'd understand. He's got about 40 knives, slippies mostly, and they've all been used for many years. (He thinks my knives are too big. Tenacious is big??)

And I would get a custom sword or two...'cuz they rock!
