Something I just recently found from an Equip to Endure video on youtube, Zac Brown is a knife guy and has his own knife company called Southern Grind. Looks like really good stuff, though the folders a expensive, but I now really want one of those grandday bowies. The thing looks awesome and has a descent price. Anyone have anything by them or played with any? What do yall think.

That Bad Monkey Drop Point with the tumbled finish is beautiful... I would love to hear more about these knives.

A tad pricey perhaps, but still pretty nice looking knives. It might be awhile, but I'll keep my eye out for one on the secondary market!

Granted everyone is entitled to there own opinion, and they are abit pricier than the stuff I carry, but Ive seen enough people around here with folders that dont even start in the two hundreds. They are all hand made and put together and such by a small shop he owns and they look really good. I especially like the bowie which is fairly priced and looks like it would be a hit among the big knife guys.

Is that an Emerson Wave on those knives?

175 dollars for 14c28 steel. Just like his music, garbage.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call Sandvik "garbage", but for the price, I would expect more than that. I can tell you that if I ever get to the place where I'm willing to drop that kind of cash on a knife, it won't be one of his.

I would be tempted to say they are pricey except Emerson gives you a similar knife for like $50 more. Southern gives carbon fiber scales and some cool accessories, Emerson gives you 154cm and adds 25% surcharge.

Compared with kershaw/zt, benchmade, and spyderco I think they don't fare so well for the $. But since they are waved and constructed like Emerson and cost considerably less than the 4" blade Emerson's maybe they are bargains?

Never seen this company before, but this is exactly what I was thinking when I looked at it. Id go as far to say its a better deal than emersons and most likely higher quality F/F

I had the chance to handle the folder at Blade a couple of weeks ago. The folder is well made with very good fit and finish and feels good in the hand. The blade does have the Emerson Wave patent number on it, so I will assume they are paying for it and doing things the right way. As for the price, I have to agree with almost everyone here that it is a bit pricey for the steel that is being used in the blade.

Maybe the heat treat is decent, that steel isn't horrible but it surely isn't worth the 170$ either. I'm hoping the F&F makes up for it along with how it feels, and it's tolerances.

I'm interested to see how well its going to do when I get it in the mail this week. My brother got me the satin plain edge version for my birthday.

Sorry for the infringement, just posted what I thought was the makers website, not trying to break rules.

Zc Brown has been a long time friend with Ernie Emerson and he uses the patented "wave" opener with permission from Emerson.

Handled one of these today in a newfound semi-local shop. I liked It. I'm not one for needing super duper fancy steels. It's a good looking and feeling knife. I may be picking one up.

I don't care for their music or the knife in the video, but to call the music and the knives garbage is nothing short of rude...
I guess you are rich, famous and have accomplished great things. Even if I don't care for them, at least he is doing something he is passionate about, and not just being a critic on a computer
