Zero Tolerance 0350

Remove the torsion bar, use a little nano oil, and the 0350 is like glass! Super smooth! It has become my favorite edc ever since I deassisted it. I hate resistance when I close a knife, so I prefer a solid manual folder.

What about the size? Has anyone found the size of the ZT 0350 to be an issue... liking getting it out and in of your pocket, etc...

the pictures make it look like a beast of a knife...

I think it's a great EDC size. I carry mine at an angle on the waistline of my pants near my belt buckle. Just disappears there and I hardly notice it.

It's not a lightweight, but it rides quite well in the pocket for it's size. I wear mine clipped to a pair of casual shorts and still have to "tap" the pocket clip every once in awhile to know it's still there, before I replaced my ZT clip with a larger custom Ti one.

Any fellow Illinois residents know if the speed safe is classified as a spring assist or gravity knife?

I heard from some folks at my local knife shop that the speedsafe is not considered an assisted opener because of some technicality... Anyone know if this is true?

I strongly suspect it is considered an assisted opener and probably illegal (or up to the opinion of the officer). Especially if in Chicago. Just guessing I wouldn't expect a fine, or certainly, imprisonment. Probably just confiscation. (A year ago my g/f obtained free weed from a cop friend --- probably confiscated.) If you like, check local laws on the net.

As per federal law, strictly speaking, not an automatic.

I've never had issues with my knives and I've carried pretty much whatever I want. I exercise discretion though so I figure I'll be ok. I just mind my own business and I'm always polite to the cops.

I just don't want any misunderstandings that might land me in jail or with a hefty fine.

I think you might be confused with the overall confusion about whether an assisted opener is considered an automatic knife or not. I don't think there is any confusion that it is considered an assisted opener. It is an assisted opener as far as I know. Then again, I've been wrong many times before and according to my track record I could very well be wrong again.
