Zero tolerance 0392purblk

After grabbing the first two 0392s, I've sat out the rest. They just don't really seem to grab me or something. I kinda wish ZT would drop the 0392 LEs, at least for a while, and push out some new and different LE designs.

I'd be all over a blue handled 0392 with a big, blackwash clip point/Bowie and black hardware though...

I was waiting for the release of these but then saw Hinderer released xm18 fatties in Wharncliff last week. I grabbed one of those instead. In this case the genuine Hinderer was only $50 more than this collaboration Hinderer. (This has kept me away from all of the 0392 variants so far, I actually paid less for my last Eklipse than 0392's cost. I really love my 0562 at half the cost of a Hinderer but I just can't quite get myself to $400 for a ZT collaboration even though I was close on this one.)

The Hinderer Fatty Edition XM-18 Wharncliffe has a 3.5" blade of S35VN and G-10 on the presentation side for $475.

ZT 0392PURBLKWC has a 3.5" Wharncliffe blade of M390 and all titanium for $400.

A single Hinderer titanium scale to replace the G-10 is $200. So, an all titanium XM-18 would be $675 and it's still S35VN not M390!

I find these 0392 LEs to be mostly hideous, and wouldn't buy one at half the price. Acid green, purple, etc.? What's next? Orange and lime-green tiger stripe? I'll pass...

I really don't like this design myself. I would be all over a ZT-manufactured spanto or Bowie XM-18 though, given how ZT's Emerson collaborations basically took the Emerson designs and made them better.

I love the shape of the 0392 / Eklipse, its goes really well with the Wharncliffe.

I think that knife, but with gold ano'd hardware and filler tab/clip would look awesome, and a satin grind to contrast the black would look killer.

This is the first ZT Iv found myself highly attracted to. Beautiful blade shape and love the purple accents, but shes so heavy.

This is melting my brain: They've been on sale for over 4 hours and 4 of the 6 vendors still have them in stock! It's almost making me want to grab one, lol. I hope nobody bought one to flip...

I have never liked the WC blade shape. It has FAR less utility than a curved blade, IMHO. It looks like a big box cutting blade, to me. For people who want to collect expensive knives it's great. I USE most of my knives. One of my resolutions for many yeas now has been NOT to buy a knife I won't actually use.

It's a pretty knife that would look even better with bronze screws and hardware. But I will never buy a knife with a WC blade. Especially a really expensive one.

I love wharnies and really like this knife, but I like it for around $200, not $400.

I think there are other forces at play with these still being in stock. I think the market is saturated with 0392 offerings. I'm guessing blowout LE releases are largely due to flippers hoping to turn a profit. Looking in the Exchange here and on Ebay, 0392's aren't and haven't been terribly profitable.

Wouldn't it be funny if these LE models were just the overstock with a new paint job and hardware?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea. People like limited edition.

Well, at least the good news is that neckbeard flippers avoided these. Those that are interested got an ample window to get orders in, versus the past sales that went OOS in a minute at all dealers.

But on aesthetics alone, I don't like these "wharncliffes" - the straight edges of the blade just don't work with the handle contours.
