zero tolerance 0770 only with carbon fiber scales?

Thank God its regular, so many other LEs coming out that will eat up my wallet :( (If I ever get them :rolleyes:)

That's another thing I had in the back of my mind. Since it is not LE, it should be around for a little while. I'm about to be part of the DoD furlough, so cash flow is gonna be restricted by 20% reduction. At least I get to keep my job, though.

I'm in for both the ZT 0770 with aluminium scales (0770AL?) and the one with carbon fiber scales (0770CF?). The ZT 0350BRN and 0350GRN with aluminium scales look great, are a pleasure to handle and you can draw fast. One of the best aluminum scales I've handled. It helps that the 0770AL will be a "somewhat" limited edition run until the currently produced AL scales are exhausted.

I'm not sure if I saw the specs for the 0770AL. (Nice designation, by the way. :) ) I'm assuming aluminum scales won't make the knife heavier than it is with CF scales. If I'm correct, the aluminum-handled version should tip the scales at around 3 ounces. That would place it right alongside the 0770CF as the lightest knife ZT has ever produced and secure its position as ZT's first true gentleman's folder . . . something I've long hoped for.

The AL scales may or may not be lighter based on thickness and hollowness. The 0350 with aluminum scales weigh about an ounce more than the ones with G10 scales.

The aluminum scaled version is 0.050" thicker overall and it is a little heavier than the carbon fiber version. It's not heavy by any means, but the CF version is a featherweight.

Using boxing weight classes: :thumbup:

0770CF = Featherweight
0770AL = Lightweight

CF is also stronger(IIRC), so that's another plus.

Man, what's happening in this sub-forum?

I don't understand all the anger over something so awesome that it should be making us all happy.

Awesome ain't the half of it, EZ Bake. The 0770CF can't get here soon enough to suit me. As far as weight is concerned, it's certainly a featherweight by ZT standards. But compared to some of the knives I carry including three William Henrys (all under 2 ounces), a CF Small Sebenza (2.3 ounces), and a CRKT Large Eros (1.4 ounces), it's more like a lightweight at 3.0 ounces. For the sake of comparison, the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian weighs 2.67 ounces and the Spyderco Sage 1 weighs 3.2 ounces.

3.0oz?!?!?! I didn't even see that. Just when I think my wish list has stopped growing, there goes another one to add to it.

Thanks for the info on the aluminum-handled version. Based on your information, I think I'll wait for the CF. For me, lighter is better. :)

Obviously not paying close enough attention :o and, of course, busy buying other people's knives. :p Then again, you really didn't expect me to look for gentlemen's knives among ZT offerings, did you? ;) Don't worry though. The 0770CF will enter my EDC rotation just as soon as I can get my hands on one. And I'll definitely be talking it up between now and then. :thumbup:
