Mario you are spot on. If he would have told me that he was buying the knife to flip it on eBay, I still would have sold it to him and wished him well. What I don't like is that he sent me many emails and texts saying how much he wants the knife and cant wait to get it. He also stated that he would give me first chance to buy it back if he ever sold it. A day or two later it was on ebay. In my mind that makes him a liar and scammer. What ever happened to being honest??

BTW - If I get the 4 more 0777's I have on preorder, Mario gets the first one at cost :)

Do I get the second one? :eagerness:

Agreed. The lying really bothers me as well. I've always said, I'm not above putting a rare knife on eBay when I need money. I did that for a couple of piece when I needed to replace my camera not long ago in fact. But I'm up front about it, and don't try to play it off in a sleezy way. That being said, consider that 0777 sold. :D It'll sit right next to the TiLT and 0560CBCF.

except they're both users :D DLC is at a new home now.

Any spare SW models there buddeh!?

I don't think anyone is really talking about entitlements and the legal ability to sell what they want at whatever price they want.

In this instance, it's more about a breach of taste. I sometimes would read things about the knife "community" and then read things like this. It makes me smile a bit usually, but being an e-buddy of Russ, I do feel a bit as if it was done in poor taste. Russ is a good guy, and like some of the other regulars around here, do go out of their way to help people get the pieces they are hoping for.

I'd have loved that 0777, and very likely wouldn't have sold it. Probably wouldn't have used it, but it would share a cozy spot next to my TiLT. I certainly wouldn't pull a used-car-salesman like pitch to someone to get their rare knife and then immediately sell it for profit. Why? Because I have integrity.

Couldn't have stated it better myself! It kills me that people are stooping to these levels. Being of a younger generation myself I worry that this will reflect on my generation and that common decency, integrity and honesty are dying out. Not to sound arrogant but I definitely consider that I still have these qualities and hope that there are others who continue to maintain these. I don't know the details of the buyer, for all I know he could be in his 70's, but when I see examples of this I worry that our culture is shifting in a new direction. Sorry to sound preachy, I just hate hearing stories like these. It makes people not want to help out others because they can't trust their intentions. Thankfully as a general trend I see BladeForums as a great community!

I've got your same worries.

There have always been jerks and sleezballs in the world... and there will always be old people to complain about were the world is headed.

The same technology that enables such a profit taking also provides the record of it for all to see.

A smallish percentage of the population will do certain things; they always have and always will.

Now, thanks to the internet, we all KNOW about it.

Personally, since I get a very good deal from people that I consider friends in the hobby, it would be an insult to my friends if I tried to gouge the market on the backs of their willingness to give me a deal.

Thankfully the folks here for the most part are in it for the hobby, friends and knowledge; not the money.

I agree with that. I have a few knives that came to me as gifts or have good gestures with them, I wont be selling them. It goes beyond monetary value, its about friends, about a community.

When I buy a knife I never sell it. If I don't want it then I don't buy it in the first place. I give a few away but normally I keep what I buy.

I've followed similar sentiments.

I've never sold a single knife yet (been collecting on and off since Fall 2005) and given plenty away to friends and family as gifts.

I've purchased a few that I shouldn't have for various reasons but I keep them like one keeps a black sheep in the family...

this is the nature of high end knives. especially in the custom world. table price is not necessarily the norm when it comes to price.

ZT should be very proud of this knife.

Can I get on the list for one? :D

The hell you need that many for? I just want one and because of KC most likely over selling, I won't get one. Even after being in the list for lord knows how long, years? I didn't know about their over sale of pre orders till recently. So I probably won't get the 0560CBCF either. I got on another list for another knife and I'm on just about everyone's notification list for the 0560 and the 0777 just in case. Although in emailing people I got on the list for the 0888 MAX.

All I know is...I'm ready for mine to arrive. I'm relatively high on the BHQ list. Just ready for the call to come in...
