I’ve wanted this model for a while, just didn’t like the green scales. This factory custom pushed me over the edge lol.
 
I had to pull the trigger. One of my all-time favorite ZTs is the 0452WBW. I love that white CF with the ZT Blackwash. Killer combo.

Sucks it’s direct from KAI only. Why would they do that? The last copper thingy one of these wasn’t direct-only…
 
The factory CF variation looks better than the original but scale variations of the 0640 have been offered by US Made Blade for some time.

Nevertheless, I still don't like the 0640 because I don't like knives that only use thumbstuds as an opening device. So, the 0640 is still a pass for me.
 
I'm puzzled as to why they would make this only available direct from them. Is this something they've done in the past? While I do like the 0640 once the scales (and for some at least, the clip) were swapped out its a solid, good looking knife. I like the CF on this one. But, KAI - you can have sales tax or shipping, not both from me. I'll pass.

IMO the USAMadeBlade versions are much better for only $10 more. Very classy combinations - bronze ano with OD green or black micarta or blue ano with natural micarta - great combinations that make the 0640 a very classy knife.
 
Good thing we're all entitled to opinions!

Sharp Dressed Knives makes all the cool scales for tons of knives, including the 0640. Getting a different scale isn't the issue. Getting that BlackWash and White CF are.

Yes, but not factory… That’s the only reason I never bought one of their nice customized ones. They do look killer though!
