Zero Tolerance: Does that weight bother anybody?

ZT knives seem to be very popular around here. They do appeal to me as well, but pretty much solely from a collectable standpoint. Does carrying a 3.5" folder with the weight of a mid-sized Multi-Tool both anybody? It would seem along the lines of people who go out and buy a Desert Eagle and try to carry it concealed. Yeah, it might be pretty cool to do about once a month, but it would get old carrying it around day after day, and would eventually leave you wanting something smaller.

Thoughts?

Its heavy...but an awesome piece.

I chose to carry mine this way to deal with the weight issue.

the only thing that bugs me about the ones ive seen, the the pocket clip...i hate it so much i sold the knife...talk about the 0200 and 0300 type clip...weight isnt a huge concern

I'm just curious though, for those of you that do EDC it, why did you choose that blade? Also, what are you daily cutting tasks. It might not make sense to me to carry it, but maybe that's because most of my EDC tasks are small.

I rotate a 0200 and a 0301 in my EDC knives, never had an issue with the weight or size of either. Just plain great knives!

I've got 200, 301 and 500 and the weight doesn't bother me a bit.

Aha, so I am not alone in the group that thinks that a folder that weighs as much as my RC-4 might be a bit much.....

i'm planning to get either a 200 or a 350 for EDC. my usual cutting tasks when I'm not at the farm are small but a folder for me is a for backup last ditch SD. I think i can live with a little weight with the comfort of a hard use folder for SD. At the moment my military fills the niche extremely well. However, after everything I've read here about the tank-like ZTs, I would like to give it a try.

The weight of the 0300 or 0200 don't bother me. There was an earlier discussion with some good observations here:

I don't have just ONE knife as an EDC. I have an EDC rotation.

Of course I dont carry the ZT0301 everyday...but I could.

It's just one of about 1/2 a dozen that gets carried alot. Sometimes I just want that big-ass thing on my belt.

I hated that clip too...I bent it to allow me to actually take the knife out of my pocket without ripping a hole in it. It was beyond what needs to be snug. It hurt my thumb to disengage it...and I had to because it was too damn tight.

I don't carry it at work, but I do carry it on the weekends, when I'm wearing jeans. The weight doesn't bother me at all.

For those of you that don't like the ZT clip or want something different, help may be on the way. G&G Hawk (designed the Kershaw RAM and ZT 0500) is working on some replacement clips that will be designed to fit all the ZTs.

They'll be available in black for sure, not sure about availability of the sand blast finish.

I know about the clip. I've tried to get one for the longest time (probably close to 6 or 7 months now), but he's always been busy with shows. I have no use for them now since I sold the 0350. I wish he'd expand them for other knives, or perhaps take custom orders for them.

He had them for the RAM and he's been working on the ZT version (among other things) for quite a while. It'd be nice if the knife manufacturers would come up with some standard spacings for the mounting screws like ZT has. Maybe we'd see more after-market clips.

I'd say a good number of custom makers use the clips from knifekits.com. He could space out the screw holes based on the clips from there, and with a bit of research, figure out which of his Grip Clips are compatible with which maker.

I have no weight issues with my 302. After the first couple days I didn't even notice it.

At first I thought it was a beast...later on I didnt even notice it,the curve in the blade was great for soda line.
