Zero Tolerance knives what is all the hype?

I have the 0777 which is a limited edition and it is amazing. They push the fit/finish, blade steel, design, blade shape, materials. What not to like?

I don't know about all this hype your talking about but I do know I own about 10 zt knives because they make good knives and I like them.

I totally agree.

My experience with ZT knives has been very positive.

When I need an overbuilt folder for job-site use I reach for one of my ZT's.

I particularly like the ZT-200, a simple and trustworthy flipper.

Hard to beat the materials and quality in the ZT line. :D

I bought mostly Benchmade and Spyderco for quite awhile and decided to give ZT a try to broaden my horizons and because I was pleased with the couple of Kershaws I had. I have been, overall, pretty impressed with ZT. If you are judging their knives solely on the knives themselves, they offer a quality product that I find to also be well designed.

I Recently gave away my only zt. It was really well built and impressively quality which is why I bought it, but after a few days of carrying it i realized the ergos weren't for me and I don't like ao knives like I thought I would. Won't stop me from trying another out in the future though, but for now I'll stick with my spydercos.

Me too - the blade shape wouldn't be my first choice, but otherwise it's a very impressive knife.

They hype their products very well, and make solid products to back up that hype. They don't make much that appeals to me right now, but that's certainly not a knock on their quality.

My limited experience includes the 0566, which I deassisted. I know it gets thrown around a lot, but I gotta say when its open it feels damn near a fixed blade. I would trust it over any other folder I have (besides the Seb 21) in a "hard use" situation. Plus it fits my hand like a glove and the elmax steel is very good from what I can tell so far. Built like a tank, ridiculously solid lockup, excellent ergos, generally very well made knife that is fun as hell to flick open 10000 times a day. And from what I hear they just get better the higher you go.

They make knives of exceptional quality, with great materials, here in my home country. Can't say anything bad about them as a company. The part I don't really like is the current tend of overbuilt knives they solely subsist on. Sure, just about everyone does it to an extent, but not everyone makes their entire line up into this trendy, pocket jewelry knife that gives a bunch of people the illusion of strength. Yeah, they're strong, but so are plenty of knives built much thinner, which cut and carry more efficiently, and ultimately will make a day of hard use much more enjoyable.

I'm not trying to say there anything wrong with preferring that feel at all. I'm a firm proponent of carrying what makes you happy. I just get on edge when people treat it like it's some necessity for a hard use knife to carry like a brick. It's akin to people thinking old cars from the sixties are so much safer because they "feel so strong" with all that steel and bulk, yet you see it get in a crash with a new Camry and you really see where the feel of bulk does not necessarily translate into actually being better...

ZT seems to be coming out with slimmer, more EDC friendly blades recently which is great. Built like a tank is great, but variety is nice. The 0770CF is a great EDC friendly knife that isn't really "built like a tank" but still a very sturdy knife. And the upcoming 0562 is also much more pocket friendly than many of their models.

Early on I remember a lot of "spec ops" this and "tactical" that involved in the marketing for ZT, when they were just trying to get off the ground. Now a days you barely see any of that from them, and that's because the knives speak for themselves.

Another good company producing American Made knives in the states with quality materials. They offer a lot of knives for reasonable prices, have one of the best warrantys in the business, and seem to be providing a lot of innovation in the last few years. They have a lot of fans and haters, like many other companies. Go figure.

Got a 0566 in January; the SpeedSafe assisted opening broke yesterday. Somewhat of a bummer.

Email or call them, they will send you replacements free of charge. Given enough time, anything will break. I've lost a few torsion bars myself no problem with their handling of these issues.

Good thing it has a detent so you can still use it. Maybe you'll decide to leave it knavish while you wait for ZT to send you the replacement.

Your statement doesn't really apply to the 0770CF. It's thin, light, and cuts well.

They are well made, quality knives made in America with great customer support and sold at a fair price. There is a lot to like about ZT and I can find zero faults with either my 0561 or 301. I have a 0200 coming in trade and had a 350 that I traded away.

Try one, the beefy knives might not be for you, but you might also find a new favorite.

I've had my ZT 0550 and used it for the following:

Sheetrock cutting
Wire cutting
Cardboard cutting
New grass shaping/cutting
Hammered some nails with it when I can't find a hammer
Used flipper handle part to open paint cans
Used the butt of knife to close same paint cans
Cut countless plastic sheets
Tree trimming
Opening countless packages
And many more

I have yet to sharpen it and it's still sharp but becoming a little bit dull lately so I'm thinking of sending it to be resharpen soon.

It's put up with tons of abuse and still opens cleanly and very smoothly. Gotten wet many times, gotten dirty many times, and it's still kicking ass.
