What do y'all like about ZT? I've gotten my hands on a few of their knives, and besides the 0308 (which was kinda too big...) I haven't really liked any of them.

It does look like they're easy to mod, and lots of people make custom hardware for them, which would be neat, but I just haven't loved the knives themselves.

Y'all's opinions?

I was never sold on any ZT model before, nothing really appealed to me. That is until I saw the 0990 and could not live without it. It definitely by far was the best production knife released last year in my humble opinion.

There’s a reason why they’re the standard to which all production titanium flippers are judged against and compared to. Everything is done right… materials, detent, lockup. The price isn’t too bad for what you get. A few years ago I couldn’t find one I didn’t want. IMO the 0801, 0808 and 0900 are as good as it gets for an edc knives. The newer stuff…eh. They still have a lot of great models tho.

I still own 40 of them, almost all early or discontinued models. Haven't bought a newly released ZT in the past 3-4 yrs.

The early ZTs are all well designed and built and generally live up to ZT's early motto (now dropped) of being "Proudly Overbuilt."

Never saw a reason to mod any of them

Once upon a time, they made cool knives...

I was just thinking today about how much I absolutely love my 0452 and 0470. Flawless frame locks. Great steel. Great ergonomics. They do seem to have become less popular these last few years, as one comment indicated. I mean, this IS a pretty tough crowd with high knife standards. They're bit thick behind the edge, but that's ok... I'll sacrifice a bit of sliceyness for a more robust edge. I'm 100% confident both of these will perform any cutting task I'd need them to.

I'm about to blow up the EDC XIII thread with pics of my 0452 on a hike of the property today.

They have some absolute home-runs, and some big misses. If you like the design I doubt you'll be disappointed by the execution.

The Strider/Onion, Hinderer, Rexford, and Sinkevich designs are good stuff. I would especially recommend the 0562TI.

I have never seen a single ZT knife that appealed to me. Their aesthetics seem to consistently fall into three categories for me: 1. Too outdated futuristic looking 2. Too tacticool 3. Being too late on modern designs.

So to be clear, you don't like their looks.

Fair enough.

Excellent fit and finish, great action, many of their designs, made in the USA, and a fantastic warranty.

I've owned around a dozen over the years (0200, 0308, 0350, 0450, 0452, 0456, 0462, 0562, 0562TI, 0640, and 0707, plus a couple variations on models...and I may have forgotten some) and been disappointed in only one of them (0200). Some weren't for me, but that came down to subjective factors like feel in my hand or aesthetics; everything I like about the brand held true for those.

As a company they don't always go where I'd like them to go with their designs, but that's hardly unique. ;) They remain one of my favorite brands.

If you do a search on here, you will find a number of threads with ZT as the topic.

They seem pretty rare up here in Oilberta, I haven't seen any in the local knife shops. They appear to be solidly made (and in the US, as well, a bonus IMHO). I'll have to ask the crew at my favorite bricks & mortar if they carry them.

I wish they would bring back the 0620/0630 but in Magnacut, also they should change the scale color on the 0640.

And while I’m at it they NEED to bring out some new fixed blades and an actual neck knife with removable handles. That would be awesome!

Only 40? So, you're still cautious about the brand?

They really make some very nice folders. They're not going to appeal to the people who want EDC Lite (like people who were glad they built the Civivi Baby Banter because they thought the WE Banter was too big), but they're giving you a solidly built, quality piece of steel every time. I like my 0308 "tank knife", complete with tiger striped blade.

I personally have x4 ZT knives and I love them. I have the 0350TS, 0450CF, 0462, & 0620CF models. At some point I also want to add the 0640 model as well. I love ZT, but I do wish they offered more steel types and more sprint runs.
