Zing vs. Skyline

I was at a dealer and the man behind the counter said that the grooves were invented first for the military. The blade would not have suction. I cannot confirm that story but i do think because of the grooves it should cut stuff like cheese easier than a flat slick blade. I own the zing with orange handles. Flips our extreemly easy. Of course as usual I am looking up and this thread is a bit old and you probably already have one or both or something else totaly different. Now the pack rat i have been looking at. I think it would be good for food preparation with the rocking motion to chop vegies. Other than that I suppose it is a good knife. I love the handle. I believe it would fill the palm and be a very controlable knife because of its nice handle.

Probably late but that is my opinions,
Daniel

I will get both eventually... But question is in which order? The shop I am looking sells both as 39,95 + Intl shipping 14,50 = 37ish €'s going well below tolling price ( 45-54 €'s ) Grooves might fill with gunk indeed but they also might make things less sticky in the blade, like sliced cucumbers and such due grooves.

So grooves have good and negative points.

Edit: Thanks Derrick, your point was extremely valuable!

Zing weight? What weight? I clip that thing to my pocket and I forget it is there. The handle scales are very nice. No machineing or any texture but a slight feel of rough (smooth rough) if that makes any sense. Leave weight out of your decision factor. "If you did not decide yet which you probably have" Not enough to make any difference in the pocket.

But I have wanted a skyline. Well I have wanted most any knife made at one time or another. But for me it is the bang for the buck that Kershaw offers. You can get a very high grade knife or you can get a skyline. I do not know the steel of the skyline gut I am assuming it is their older steel 13C26 which in my use of it and sharpening it is super for a less expensive knife. Now the new 14C28N I think that is what it is, but what ever, I have not had the oportunity to sharpen it yet. I usually hand my knives to my youngest son "any way" (24) because my age is effecting my sharpening knives any good. Aurthor you know. My son though. You talk about a guiy that can sharpen a knife fast and keep the edges perfect by eye, well he is very good at it. that is another thing. Glasses. Cant see that edge as I used to be able to HaHeHe. I actually use a loop to check the angles so i can see them. So goes life when you numbers in you age starts to add up. But my grandson does not care and he is a riot.

I am on the fence about these 2 as well i am looking at the Damascus versions of both .. they removed the grooves on the zing.. one thing i noticed is that the zing is a little thicker and as a pocket wearer i think the skylines lower weight and slimmer profile might win...i also like the blade shape on the skyline..

Only lazy peoples knives rust. (Zero) knives will ever rust if you do your part. Carbon or Stainless
End of story.

Od-1 looks nice, slightly cheaper than Zing, G-10 scales and oh... framelock ^^
Edit: there's been some discussion in here of OD-1 getting rusty really quick due its blade + finish combination.

2nd edit: After looking 30 + reviews and so forth and digging up a lot material from Britishblades, knives forums and in here I think I go for Zing. Sorry Skyline, you'll be bought later... again... (2nd postpone for Skyline)
