Zombies!!

Assuming '83 is your birth date, you're really 30 years old and planning for zombies?

You are *never* too old to prep for zombies.

This thread reminds me of a chain email my dad sent me the other day:

Subject: Women and their Firearms
________________________________

This is a story of self control and marksmanship by a woman with a small handgun against a fierce predator.

What is the smallest caliber you trust to protect yourself?

The Beretta Jetfire!! While out hiking in Alberta Canada with my boyfriend we were surprised by a huge grizzly bear charging at us from out of no where. She must have been protecting her cubs because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire with me I would not be here today!

Just one shot to my boyfriend's knee cap was all it took...the bear got him and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best pistols in my collection.....

Bladed weapon? Heck no.

Ruger 10/22, couple bricks of ammo, and a couple cases of beer. I'd rather the ammo runs out before the beer does.:D

Sounds good. A 22LR would kill the brain just as easy as a higher powered firearm. But 22LR ammo would last alot longer and be cheaper, even in this day and age of soaring ammo prices. I dont drink, so I would go with say a case of pepsi or ice tea........HHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Well I hope I get my Rodent 9 before they come. But I'd grab my axe gang hatchet too. For if/when I run out of ammo.

I would rather grab for my keys to my truck. And my Defender (kudos if you caught the Simpsons reference, if not the Defender is a cinderblock with a chain wrapped around it).

Really though, you want at the shortest a 20" blade. Some short just would stick you closer and closer to the grasping arms and gnashing maw. Last thing you need in an apocalyptic scenario is to have a scratch from a zombie get infected (or turn you if it is a contagious disease).

Now that I think about it, your best bet would be to grab for the keys of a boat and find an island to live on. Once you get settled (and if there is fruit you can make alcohol to distill into fuel), you can then look for survivors along coasts.

Once I can afford one, this will be my weapon of choice;

Firearms would obviously be my first choice, but for those hypothetical situations where you run out of ammo, or encounter a lone zombie that you want to dispatch quietly and/or without expending your limited ammo, I would go with a machete of some sort, something not too heavy and with decent reach, say, a Condor Swamp Master or Aranyik Latin Machete. I'd also keep my CRKT C/K Dragon with me as a smaller last ditch fixed blade, plus a folder of some sort for general use. And I'd have my Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk in my vehicle, primarily for use as a tool, but with the option to use it offensively if need be.
