The designs look interesting. 5160 is a legitimate steel for large blades. The forward curve on the blades do look like they would aid in chopping deeply. Some of the blades seem to be on the heavy side for one-handers. Who knows how they actually perform. The acid etching on the blades reminds me of Kiku Matsuda's stuff. Although, Kiku's etching looks classier:

What about getting a knife that's made for actual work than some childish zombie apocalypse?

That hottie is no child! LOL

I would learn a bit more about the performance of the blades before I plunked any hard earned cash on one.

I would doubt that they are actually useful, but who knows?

I do wonder, who is the target audience of their peculiar marketing?
Zombie tools... I mean, really...

I don't know anything about the quality of their knives, but their marketing makes me laugh.

From their FAQ section:

So what do you guys do?
We are swordsmen and metalsmiths who create blades, and soon, other
gear, that will increase your odds of surviving a zombie apocalypse.

Are you serious?!
Deadly.

Looks to me like they're just having fun doing something that they want to do. More power to them. They found a niche market. Wish I'd thought of it.

I thought it was a cool website, but the prices they are quoting are high enough that I would consider them beyond a 'mindless purchase'. Maybe they can get lucky and sell to a movie production for use as props, but otherwise I think it's going to be a tough road for them. However, I do admire them for having the guts to pursue their ideas and turning them into a business model.

Going on by how I feel about them as a result of their marketing, I guess their target audience is early 30's military engineers?

Well said. Do what you like and have a good time.
+1 go for it guys!

I've been watching these guys for a long time and they've been coming out with some fun designs.
I've conversed with them via email and they're super easy to deal with.
Haven't actually got my hands on one of their blades yet. Yet. :D

Agreed. It's a niche. We might not even be talking about them if they were just another sword company. And there's nothing wrong with buying a big combat blade, whether it's designed for a zombie apocalypse or an ancient sword battle. There are plenty of blades in the market that aren't made for practical use, but they're fun designs and there are people that appreciate them. That's why I bought a samurai sword and a Swamp Rat Rodent Waki. The pricing looks high, but if they performed well and I was into the designs, I don't see anything wrong with grabbing one.

Something that people on this forum tend to forget is that the majority of the knives that are discussed here are unnecessarily high end stuff. If one really only cares about "what works", then he wouldn't have more than:

An ax
A saw
An Opinel
A SAK
A Machete

And not necessarily all of the above. It's hypocritical to justify your own unnecessary tastes in blades and ridicule someone elses.

Were just a couple of guys making the most badass blades we can.

Welcome to the forums guys. I think you guys have found an interesting niche and I applaud you for it. Do you folks plan on putting up some videos showing the performance of the blades anytime in the future?

We hope to have some videos in the near future. All of our blades are 5160 and made to go through some punishment. We just finished a naginata and are trying to get caught up on orders. I personally am a longtime registered user on this forum and sword forum. Truthfully if it wasn't for these forums Zombietools may have never even got off the ground. Were just two guys out in montana working out of a small shop. As many of you know trying to sustain yourselves with knife and sword making is a lot of hard work and it doesn't make you rich any time soon.

I see buying a blade marketed for zombies as being no less fanciful than buying a blade marketed for military operations, when the buyer has never been surrounded by zombies nor in combat arms. If it's well made, it's well made.

I scanned their site a bit and cracked up. It looks like a humorous slant on the standard "military knives" site. Refreshing to see someone having fun with their marketing instead of taking it all so seriously.

The prices are not bad at all for custom blades of that size. I definitely see a couple I want when I can spare the funds. :D

Good to have you bro. What is the thickness on the Para Bellum? I may have overlooked it.
