I've been playing a few days now with my ZT 0200, and i'm still totally amazed at the build quality for between $120 to $140 at some places where it's listed.
Today i was reading from the June 2007 "Knives Illustrated" magazine about the USMC approved Strider Folder. I wouldn't mind owning one, mind you,......but at a "base" retail of $475 (before options), i couldn't help but think of just HOW much knife we were all getting for so little money with the ZT 0200 !!!!!
It's such a great knife (at even 3X the money, IMO),......i'm really hopeful that a smaller version might somday come down the line.
Listen UP, o grand Kershaw powers that be.....................
Keep the same beefy build quality and no nonsense features (non-AO so easy to clean out open passages), shorten the blade to maybe 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches in length,.......and use the same thickness in the stainless steel liners, blade thickness, and G10 scales to keep the quality feel and durability there.
It'd be OK to decrease the width of blade in proportion to whatever came off the length,.......and use the same pocket clip size that is about the best one i have seen on a Kershaw product. (just right in size to keep it hidden when worn inside the pant lip under a belt).
I'm not really happy with the clip size on my four Spec Bumps,.....MUCH too large and i actually shortened one up about half it's original length on my carry piece. (since replaced as my EDC with the ZT 200) I also own a Leek, Mini Cyclone, and a Storm ll with partial serrated blade but the clip on the ZT 200 is still the best!
IMO,....there you'd have a SURE winner for most folks EDC knife,..especially for some not wanting to feel like a weekend warrior at work, and less visable and likely to alarm folks when it's being used for everyday tasks. Still plenty in hand for a defensive weapon..........
This "wish it was available" knife may never be produced,........but it should be!
Just in case the original ZT 0200 is someday discontinued,.......i'm pretty sure i'm going to stock up on maybe 20-30 pieces of this model,...........and maybe give a few out as gifts along the way.
......a smaller version offered as described and i'd "invest" in at least 50 pieces all by my lonesome! Would make a nice boyscout, hunting/fishing, & campside knife also.
...........can you tell i'm impressed with the ZT 0200?
