Quoted from ZT's email:

"As a subscriber to our newsletter, you're the first to know:

The Zero Tolerance 0392, the first Factory Custom knife from ZT and Rick Hinderer, will go on sale later this month. They will only be available for purchase from a select group of our top dealers. And we won't announce exactly which dealers until the day before the sale.

As a subscriber to this newsletter, you'll receive an email with the list of 0392 dealers on February 17th. We'll also announce the list on our social media and website at the same time. But remember; they won't go on sale until the next day."

Good luck guys, I hope you all score one!

I have never purchased something like this on release day, but would really like one. Do they usually sell out in a few minutes or hours or days?

Looks like they're going back to the old way of selling limited releases. Good for those with ins at dealers and flippers. At least this should fix pre-sales unless chosen dealers do a 24 hour preorder.

Hope I score one! It will be an awesome birthday(17th) present to myself! And possibly the only folder I buy all year.

Already have one on the way. It'll be nice if the dealers can mark them down like they did with the 0801S110V. I didn't mind paying full price to avoid the feeding frenzy that will happen 2/18.

Well, that post says it all, doesn't it? First thing I wondered when I received the e-mail was what happened to Kershaw selling these Limited Edition knives themselves? Now we see that people with connections with the right dealers don't even have to worry any more, they've got them as soon as they are announced. Is this a step forward?

(And by the way, I have no interest in this knife in any event...)

Back to dealers? Speaking from my experience alone, I do not miss calling, and stalking dealers to maybe get one. Most times, I strike out for one reason or another. The shady reasons like their buddies getting first dibs I def do not miss. Im tired. Ill give a few that I trust like Kershawguy an email if he gets some, get a reply that Im too late and move on with an expected acceptance of defeat.

The KAI direct releases were a breeze. Much simpler than the BS. Thats just my experience and mine alone.

I was very excited for the 0392 and my (fair) chances. Hearing of the news reminds me of when I lost my drive when my partner queefed. Very deflating.

How? Who's your connect?

It's back to this.

I'm pretty sure he is overseas. They have already been delivered overseas as someone else already has one.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the knife.

I totally missed this, what happened with the 0454's? :o

The sale was a **** show. That's what happened.

I know a lot of people on here were happy about it, but that's 'cause they managed to get one. Meanwhile, ZT had my $425 for a week while they sorted the mess out, and I got no 0454.

I guess the Ruby sale went pretty similarly.

I've been waiting but what happened to this?
ALL LIMITED EDITION ZERO TOLERANCE TO BE SOLD CONSUMER-DIRECT FROM THIS WEBSITE ONLY

Beginning later this year, this website will be the only place you can purchase Zero Tolerance Limited Edition knives.

We’re doing this to give you the opportunity to purchase these highly desirable knives in a single, convenient online location—without aftermarket price gouging, having to pay in advance for pre-orders, or searching multiple retailers to see who has the product in stock. Plus, since we will sell these Limited Edition knives only after we have completed our production run, you won’t have to wait for your knife either. Once you order it, it will be on its way to you.

HERE’S HOW IT WILL WORK:

We will preview Limited Edition knives on this website as we have always done.
Two weeks before the products will be available for purchase, we will begin making announcements on this website and in our social media to tell you exactly when the knives will go on sale.
Want to know even sooner? Sign up for our opt-in email list—you’ll be the first to know when the Limited Edition ZTs will be available for purchase.
HINT: You can sign up for our opt-in mailing list on any product page on this website.

You may purchase only one Limited Edition knife per household.
We will not accept pre-orders; purchasing begins on the day we announce and continues while supplies last. Full details to come when the announcement is made.
Limited Edition knives will be sold at full MSRP plus shipping.
Products cannot be shipped to PO Boxes.
Offer valid in the US and Canada only.

I'd imagine it's because KAI would rather put the heat on dealers rather than themselves, I don't blame them. Who knows how many promised 0392's/Ruby's they had to produce after what happend last time.

There could be more than that, and probably is...
Just speculation...
