ZT 0392 release day on 2/18!

I think this refers to the sale of after-market modifications for the 0392 directly from Hinderer. Supposedly there will be lots of options to customize and personalize the 0392...for a price.

Can anyone tell me what retailers have handled LE ZT's in the past?

The thing that will suck about this knife, will be trying to get the custom Hinderer hardware for the Eklipse. I know the XM-18 3.5" pivot screw and clip will work, but everything else is exclusive to the Eklipse model. I've never seen Eklipse hardware for sale yet, and it's not even on Ricks website, so I guess we'll have to see how elusive it will be.

My plan is to "orange peel" the scales and fit it with bronze hardware, but that may take a while to complete if I can't get the hardware in:grumpy:

Can't you simply re-anodize the current hardware to bronze?

Not if it's blue, it would have to be stripped of the anodized coating.
Bronze hits the color spectrum before blue does.

Blues, the anodizing can be easily removed with some inexpensive chemicals that can be bought at your local walmart, that will allow you to re-anodize to your liking. Hit me up on PM and I can share more details if you have the gear to do the job

It was originally mentioned in the announcement of the FC project that additional hardware would be Rick's responsibility....hopefully he will be ready to go soon. If not there are plenty of customizers setup to handle a change in color.

Yes, I know this, I've done anodizing many times. I just haven't invested into a good power supply so I can't adjust voltage accordingly to get that "perfect" bronze color, so I'd rather just but some from Rick.

My "power supply" consists of a dozen 9v batteries
I think I should invest into a proper power supply, however I've done some pretty cool stuff with batteries alone.

I commend them for doing what they can to make their customers happy. Looks like ZT is trying to avoid another "SS 0454" hitting an iceberg....

I paid for my 0392 today using my voucher and preorder opportunity from the 0454 glitch.

I really like all my ZT knives and I am sure this one will be no different.

From what I have read, ZT can't win no matter what they do. People bitch and complain. They tried direct sales to make the process fairer and easier. Didn't work, so back to the alternate method.

Some people are just never happy and they are usually the ones who are the loudest ... unfortunately.

Well, after also expressing my initial disappointment with this announcement in this thread, I also replied to the KAI marketing department e-mail regarding it. I must say, I received a VERY impressive response from Jennifer, Regional Sales Manger of Kershaw & ZT, in which she referred to this thread and my post and went on to explain that Lost Cosmonaut was not getting a 0392 from a dealer, but from KAI because of the 0452 mess. She also informed me that the 0392 is being sold through dealers while KAI is in the process of setting up a new and more capable server for handing the future sale of limited edition products. So, since KAI has unfortunately chosen to no longer have an official presence here, I thought I should pass this info along. :thumbup:

Could they just have waited until they upgraded their server before releasing THE MOST anticipatedo ZT limited

I'm not even gonna try this go around, I'm traumatized from the frantic hunt and the "nope sorry, sold it all to my buddies" replies so I'm not even gonna try actually... I simply thought that those days were over and I do not want to revisit. I'm glad though that they plan on continuing with selling it themselves in the future after the kinks gets worked out.

I believe that the ruby took days to sell out.

I'm not impressed, I would have never got my 0454 without the direct sale and I doubt I'll manage to get a 0392 now. This just plays back into the secondary market.

- You were able to get a ZT0454, but a lot of people still were not able to. The secondary market on that knife wasn't exactly great either.
