I've had accounts with all five ZT dealers but I should probably store my CC information just until this possible transaction to keep the marauding horde of flippers at bay! :)

Looks like they are trying to create a level playing field across the selected dealers. Online orders only; back-door phone calls. No pre-orders. And the listings will all go live at the same time for all dealers.

I foresee a number of new accounts being created at those dealers' respective sites tonight.

It's close... F5 keys at the ready...

I should be able to land one tomorrow.I never have had a problem landing any of the ZT LE's.My best guess is that this one will sell in the $325 to $375 range.Best of luck to everyone.......

So I have a question, being a relatively new collector. I just got a ZT0770CF on Monday, and I'm trying to justify trying to get one of the LE ZT0392's tomorrow to my wife. She's worried its going to lose value, kinda like a car, and I think I'm right in explaining that these LE's retain if not actually increase in value. Am I off base? Do these things actually appreciate or will I be seeing it in a few weeks for 250$?

I think that would depend on if you use it or not, and how much wear it shows.

Probably not as low as $250. I'd guess secondary prices are going to be $300-$500 depending on how many there are.

Its all speculation, but its likely you will always be able to get at least $300 for yours assuming you don't sharpen it with a belt grinder or something along those lines... If they only make 1000 or less, you should be in better shape... In have a feeling though this will be their least limited release... I bet they made closer to 2500 of these... Pure speculation...

Looks like house of blades will only ship in the USA...bummer. You would think ZT would of chosen 5 dealers that ship internationally.

I would guess it is going to be much less than either of those numbers. The hardware is all custom by Rick himself. 2500 sets would be A LOT.

I posed this question earlier, but will ask it again in a slightly different way; are you looking at this knife as an investment, as a really cool knife that you will use, or as an addition to your collection that will reside in a safe?

Personally, I am buying this knife with the intention of using it. However, if it isn't what I think it is, I might let it live in my "safe" or sell it. If I was a gambler, I would bet on my 0392 being a user.

Its a user. Knifes don't belong in a safe. Gold and silver belong in a safe... Knifes are meant to cut things. (IMHO) that being said knifes are not meant to pry, scrape, throw, or turn screws... If you think you will do any of these things with your knife, buy a leatherman... Take care of your knife and sharpen it before it gets dull.

Thrill of the hunt for me personally, so no butthurt if not successfu...;)

Yeah but the collaboration has been in the works for longer than the knife has been known to exist by the consumer market. 2500 is a lot and might be a generous estimate, but I would assume each dealer has been delivered at least 50-100 pieces.

As I read this thread, with lots of popcorn, I was thinking 'flipper' was being used to describe the knife's opening action in a derogatory manner.

I now believe that 'flipper' being used with regard to this knife and its limited release is meant to negatively label resale profiteers? Yes, I know the word profiteer is generally used in a 'shady' sense.

However, I love the fact that people can buy low and sell high. If I get one tomorrow and I don't like it (highly probable for me with ZT) I would love to be able to make a profit when selling it.

The resale value of ANY item is always equal ONLY to what the buyer is willing to pay--or no transaction materializes.

highly doubt we will see anywhere close to those numbers and i think resale will be much higher

I will say this.... if i don't get one, I wont be trying on the secondary market.

I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me......

8:30 until I get to see the list? Come on, some people have to wake up early...

I think I'm gonna let this one pass, perhaps next time around zt will get their sh!t together.

I was going to make a list of the major dealers I wanted to contact, along with numbers/info.
What if I contact one dealer and they're out? What's my plan B? Or C, D, etc...

Also with my job, I never know what I'll be doing next so I don't have time to go Internet-knife-hunting all morning. Way too much work for a knife that really isn't anything special, ZT has switched things up too much for my liking.

Even the 0454 was a headache to get, which I thought that was poorly executed too, due to the whole shopatron thing. I hate indecision, which ZT seems to be good at.

I waste my time trying to get a knife I might not get. Sure it's a nice knife, but far from one of my grails. I really only wanted it to mod it.

I'd rather just keep my money and put it towards one of the customs on my want-list, at least I know I can get one of those with patience, and not being in a rush.

Thanks for the ignorant comment, however I know that they are working on it. My point is, they shouldn't have released their knives until they had everything worked out, it's not like their customers are going anywhere.

Perhaps you don't understand things from other perspectives, only your own. I help run a business, I know a thing or two about what makes customers/clients happy.

You'll probably be one of those guys wasting hours refreshing a page anyways, enjoy buddy, hope you get one;)

Again, some people fail to see the bigger picture:rolleyes:

It's not about "everybody getting one", it's about having a constantly reliable way of purchasing LE's. This way dosent work for everyone, but it works for you, so I guess that's all that matters:rolleyes:

So instead, they should release them this way and upset customers? Of course, some customers will find something to complain about anyways, but many of us know that direct sales are the way to go. Why take a step in the wrong direction? Why not go out with a bang and show your customers that you have been working on it? I'm sure ZT has space in their warehouse for a few hundred knives (but God forbid we wait).

Nope, I guess an ass-backwards sale still makes more sense. Screw the customers that have things to do with their lives, let's just market it to people that will cluck-out over ZT products...

Like I said, enjoy;)

You see, that's my issue.
Its just too much to keep track of for one measly knife.

The 0454 method was simple (shopatron issues aside). You're not here by "xx" time, you miss out. Fair enough, I like that. You were told ahead of time when you can get your knife.

This method is just too complicated. Wait for announcement, then wait for dealers list at 8:30 at night. Next morning, I have to search through (potentially) multiple knife dealers and then hope I'm in the right place at the right time. All while I'm at work...
Nope, I'm good.

Call me a whinner/cryer/sissy, whatever. I don't like this method, and I have good reasons not to. It's not like I'm making this up just to complain. I'm a grown-ass man and I'm entitled to my opinion, so I don't need to be called a whinner/cryer just because you don't agree.

If you guys like going through all that leg-work just for a knife, be my guest. I'll wait until ZT goes back to direct sales where I can reliably contact one source to see if something is in-stock or not.

Again, I work tomorrow...
With my job, I don't have time to look through multiple websites. Like I said, if I could just go to one site for a quick reliable answer, it would make this experience much more enjoyable. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Also, since I'm a returning ZT customer, if I bought through them, all my info would be saved as "returning customer" and it's as easy as one click to buy. Not so much for a dealer I might not have done business with.

If ZT announced that they were doing this sale at 8:00am tomorrow and I couldn't make it, then oh well. At least I knew. But not knowing anything until last minute is a complete let down.

Looks like you've taken business 101:thumbup:
Others here, not so much.

I think the whole "we're working on it" in regards to IT/network problems is goofy too. I contract IT/networking guys and know how they work, it dosent take months to figure out...

It dosent take that long to upgrade your IT/Networking system. I see it being done all the time for large commercial/industrial companies (much bigger than KAI) that need an excellent networking setup to transfer/hold massive amounts of data, logistical information, sales, records etc.. I do this stuff for a living, so you obviously don't understand where I'm coming from when I'm being critical of ZT.

No body is boycotting Kai, so I don't know why you're putting words in people's mouth. I'm still a ZT fan, I'm just upset about this LE's execution. If you didn't like the blade grind on your 0562, should I act like you're a whinner and say you're wrong? I didn't think disagreeing would be such a big deal. Some of you guys need to get off the internet and take a walk in the park or something, life is good...

Yes, any dealer info would be appreciated. Just found out I dont work tomorrow, happy to feel like I might have a chance now (my whining still applies:)).

Not so much "personal", more of a jab...
I guess it was just bad timing on your end, since everyone was jumping on me for disagreeing previously.

Not to get more off-topic, but I work construction as a General Contractor and I see (and manage) IT systems being built from scratch. I guess my comment does seem "foundless" to you, but we're coming from two completely different perspectives.

Whatever...it dosent really matter much.
This thread is drifting way more than I intended...

So, about that 0392?:D

True...

I bet someone over at KAI is getting a good laugh at this thread:D

I think that would depend on if you use it or not, and how much wear it shows.

I don't understand why you would pull an all nighter for a sale that starts at a specified time the next day. Please explain?
