Hi Chet,

Yes we are talking about its release (and the when, how, where)...Cuz you know, it's coming out tomorrow... Been anticipating since announcement at BLADE.

About the knife KNIFE? We can talk about those details too :D

WTF more do you people want?!? keep in mind, forum members represent a small fraction of their consumer base....and people here just cant be satisfied. And here I thought BFC was getting better, boy was I wrong....

Im going to try to get a 392, if I get one great, if not oh well....why spend all this time freaking out, what good does it do? Want to boycott ZT?? Great, please do, more knives for the rest of us. Catch you in the green rooms....

It dosent take that long to upgrade your IT/Networking system. I see it being done all the time for large commercial/industrial companies (much bigger than KAI) that need an excellent networking setup to transfer/hold massive amounts of data, logistical information, sales, records etc.. I do this stuff for a living, so you obviously don't understand where I'm coming from when I'm being critical of ZT.

No body is boycotting Kai, so I don't know why you're putting words in people's mouth. I'm still a ZT fan, I'm just upset about this LE's execution. If you didn't like the blade grind on your 0562, should I act like you're a whinner and say you're wrong? I didn't think disagreeing would be such a big deal. Some of you guys need to get off the internet and take a walk in the park or something, life is good...

It'd be nice to see some kind of firm number of released knives and something from KAI saying if they find that these dealers are giving the inside scoop to their employees, families, and friends that they'll not be eligible for limited edition sales anymore.
 
All talk of how this could have been handled better aside, I am psyched for the 0392! I run my own business, and can surf the net at work. :D I will be glued to my computer at noon PST trying to get an 0392.

Question for those who want one; will you actually use it or will it be a safe queen? I am not 100% sure myself. If it lives up to the hype and the reviews I have read / seen, it will be spending a great deal of time in my pocket. If not... it might become a safe queen. Based on what I know of ZT and this knife, I would say the odds are really good that it will be a user.

And yet people still want ZT to sit on it and wait. Then in another breath they poke about it maybe coming out this year or next.

I bet those dealers see a record pace of new accounts being created between now and tomorrow morning in and effort to pre-game! Probably even purchases to get payment info attached to the account so it does not need to be entered at checkout. On the plus side since it's only 5 dealers maybe they will get enough quantity that each dealer has more than a handful available. It would be interesting to know if all the dealers got the same qty.

In context, for myself at least... my anticipation since BLADE comment is out of excitement for the product. Nothing more. Def not a complaint that it has taken long because frankly, it hasnt taken long at all.

When some, myself included suggested they wait till kinks get worked out for direct sales... Yes, a few more weeks/months wait would have been fine. I mean, no one even knew it was coming out till it was announced a few weeks ago.

The way things are set up though... I'm a lot more optimistic now. This is a forum... We discuss. More accurately, this is GENERAL KNIFE TALK. Not a rah rah thread where anything besides positive is allowed.
 
I see that a couple of the dealers selected to sell the knife are viewing this thread. Any input from y'all about how to find the item once its posted for sale? Will they be available exactly at 9am pst? Or will you just add them in the morning or any time after 9am PST that you see fit??

Yes, any dealer info would be appreciated. Just found out I dont work tomorrow, happy to feel like I might have a chance now (my whining still applies:)).

I should have clarified i meant it in general as we do see those phrases a lot here not meaning to single you out. I apologize for that.

Back to my comment i'm sure you can see what i meant when i said it. Your post reminded me of all the digs ive seen regarding things being delayed. Honestly no point getting bent over it. Its only a knife after all.

More importantly I know I'll be anxiously awaiting for this one. Ive wanted one since i held it at blade. I think KAI probably has some rules in place so im not going to conjecture about what ifs, just going to think what I'll be cutting with it if i score one. Good luck all.

Ironically i was on a late night walk with my wife so my reply is a bit delayed...though I appreciate your parting jab.

While i was making a general observation, you obviously took it personal, so let me indulge you. I too work for a fortune 500 company that has a massive internet retail presence. We recently spent about 6 months updating and transitioning our entire online framework....while i admit we took our time with the project your assertion that "it doesnt take that long" is foundless. Every company is different, some have in house IT others do not. Some companies are focused on quick development and implementation, though I would be willing to bet KAI is more focused on making knives than trying to appease the few people that got butthurt over issues with shopatron. Before you try to call someone you dont know out on their knowledge base, or lack thereof, take a moment to think logically first. Dont ever assume what someone does or does not know, your attempt to do so only makes you look childish.

If you took the time to read through previous threads regarding the initial transition to direct sales, or the aftermath of the 454/ruby sales, you will find plenty of posts from members claiming they are done with ZT, selling their collections, and many more empty threats. That is what I was referring to, and funny enough there are a few of those folks posting in this thread about their excitement for the 0392.

Regarding my comments on whining. I agree everyone has their own opinions and is entitled to them...thats what forums are for. Again I wasnt calling you out, but since you took it personal, yes I feel that many people in here are just whining about their perception of fairness. kai has tried several methods to release LE's over the past year...thats more effort to change the industry than any other company can claim....i dont think a perfect method exists, but at least they try. I get it, you dont like the dealer system and feel KAI could have done better with their direct sales and as a result are not getting a 0392. When I get mine I'll flip it a few times in your honor...

Not so much "personal", more of a jab...
I guess it was just bad timing on your end, since everyone was jumping on me for disagreeing previously.

Not to get more off-topic, but I work construction as a General Contractor and I see (and manage) IT systems being built from scratch. I guess my comment does seem "foundless" to you, but we're coming from two completely different perspectives.

Whatever...it dosent really matter much.
This thread is drifting way more than I intended...

So, about that 0392?:D
 
Y'all keep bitching endlessly over essentially meaningless trivialities of distribution methodologies. I'm going to open tabs for each dealer, set a reminder alarm for 11:58am, and work on that explanation for HappyMommy.
